Re:The USA is already a global censorship body
Wikileaks isn't censored. Try its many mirrors here: http://wikileaks.info/
Internet Gambling is probably one where I agree with you somewhat, but it was a business decision (preventing money laundering for other crimes), not a ideological decision. See the many cities and states where various forms of gambling is legal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling_in_the_United_States
DeCSS isn't censored (although COMPANIES, not the US government, have tried to censor it) http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/openlaw/DVD/DeCSS
Under 18 porn may be offensive to some, but it's mainly banned out of a sense of humanity and empathy for its victims, there is no commonality between it and banning cartoons (cartoons are not abducted or abused)
Why do you tell lies and half-truths? Is it because you think telling lies will help get your point across? Well it doesn't.

The Art of Psyops
What is being deliberately obfuscated by signal-to-noise ratio is that the original calls for Julian Assange's/Wikileaks blood were a result of the publishing of the Afghan War Diary [wikileaks link] detailing the deliberate lying, use of mis- and disinformation and the collusion of the "Free Press©" in the deliberate manufacture and continuation of an illegal occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq leading to the rise of the Department of Homeland Security's plenipotentary powers and the totalitarian shift of USGovt©.
All other debates and distractions pale in significance to this information.

Spamhaus' False Allegations Against wikileaks.info
Published 15-Dec-2010, 8:00 AM GMT
On Tuesday, 14-Dec-2010 Spamhaus has issued a statement wherein it labels wikileaks.info as "unsafe", as they consider our hosting company as a malware facilitator:
http://www.spamhaus.org/news.lasso?article=665
We find it very disturbing that Spamhaus labels a site as dangerous without even checking if there is any malware on it. We monitor the wikileaks.info site and we can guarantee that there is no malware on it. We do not know who else is hosted with Heihachi Ltd and it is none of our business. They provide reliable hosting to us. That's it.
While we are in favour of "Blacklists", be it for mail servers or web sites, they have to be compiled with care. Just listing whole IP blocks as "bad" may be quick and easy for the blacklist editors, but will harm hosters and web site users.
Wikileaks has been pulled from big hosters like Amazon. That's why we are using a "bulletproof" hoster that does not just kick a site when it gets a letter from government or a big company. Our hoster is giving home to many political sites like castor-schottern.org and should not be blocked just because they might have hosted some malware sites.
Fortunately, more responsible blacklists, like stopbadware.org (which protects the Firefox browser, for example), don't list us. We do hope that Spamhaus hasn't issued this statement due to political pressure.
Wikileaks.info will always be safe and clean. Promised:
Google Safe Browsing Check for wikileaks.info
Update (15-Dec-2010 17:00 PM GMT): Spamhaus has updated their statement to say that they don't blacklist us.

Please note:
1) This DDoS attack does not seem to be originating from Anonymous but from AnonOps which is a cybergang-related IRC server and the DDoS seems to be originating from a real botnet of hijacked Windows computers, not LOIC.
2) Spamhaus warned about wikileaks.info which seems to be hosted by the same criminals and is posting false Wikileaks statements.
3) Wikileaks.org has been taken over by these criminals and is redirecting to http://mirror.wikileaks.info/ which is NOT sourcing from wikileaks.ch (and other mirrors like http://www.wlmirror.com/)It seems to me the US Gov'mint has 'fixed' their Wikileaks problem by a campaign of misinformation and probably paid these Russian criminals to host the false Wikileaks site. It wouldn't surprise me if the wikileaks.info sites started to have certain damning documents disappear or specific ones infected just to track who's reading what.

wikileaks.info vs wikileaks.ch
The links below have been reported to contain Malware, so don't click without reading first.
I'm confused. wikileaks.org redirects to mirror.wikileaks.info. That page looks like WikiLeaks did a year ago (a simple MediaWiki site), but it has up-to-date content. Meanwhile, the official domain we have had for the past fortnight, wikileaks.ch is still running and serving the "new look" which seems to just have the cablegate stuff.
mirror.wikileaks.info links to wikileaks.ch if you click on cablegate. They also claim this is a false spam report; the spam report claims that "Wikileaks.info is NOT connected with Julian Assange or the Wikileaks organization" and that "We also note that the content at mirror.wikileaks.info is rather unlike what's at the real Wikileaks mirrors which suggests that the wikileaks.info site may not be under the control of Wikileaks itself, but rather some other group." (Fair enough; it does claim to be a mirror.)
So is wikileaks.info a malware site or a legitimate WikiLeaks mirror? I'm all for WikiLeaks mirrors, but it seems like the main wikileaks.org domain should link to the main website, not a very different mirror. And if wikileaks.info is a malware site, where do you go to get all the other WikiLeaks content from the old site (it doesn't seem to be available anymore from wikileaks.ch)?

Re:Broader approach
Nice one troll. Had you even heard of Wikileaks before Assange started cultivating public attention?
For the record, Wikileaks HAS been exposing "bad stuff" in the world way before the iraq/afghan/cablegate stuff. SInce about 2006. Although you totally fail to understand their modus operandi. Releasing thousands of "random" (read "whatever they're given") classified documents is all they can do. They don't have the resources to analyse all the stuff they get. Hence recruiting the media to do the analysis for them. However, we already know that the media has kept shtum on most of these stories, so Wikileaks and Julian Assange must _become_ the story in order to get any attention at all.
As for the stuff they've released in the past you can still access most of it through one of their mirrors. Check out:
http://mirror.wikileaks.info/And as for the "potentially causing unnecessary harm". Please name a single documented case where this has happened due to WL. As opposed to the well known, documented, hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths caused by corrupt governments around the world.
Me? I'm seeding the WL insurance file and will be till I get cut off. I've also donated. All you rah-rah types who claim to believe in 1st amendment freedom of speech - most of you have exposed yourselves as no different to most other statists.

Re:Well kinda depends
If it ends up that the new leaks target all kinds of banks and companies, then no. If they are all conveniently US banks and companies, then I'd say that lends some credence to the anti-US idea.
Wikileaks already released information about foreign banks that was politically explosive: the Julius Baer tax evasion and money laundering docs, and the Northern Rock memo. The Julius Baer documents led to wikileaks.org being censored by the U.S. judicial system. Details of the Northern Rock memo were completely censored in the British press by the British judicial system.
So, if Wikieaks really is just an anti-U.S. operation, then why would they release documents on Swiss and British banks? And why do people who complain that Wikileaks is only releasing U.S. info ignore the cases where they released information from non-U.S. entities?

Re:Democrats loved the Pentagon Papers
For a moment you got me startled. Main site is probably DDoSed all the time (either maliciously or by sheer volume of netizens trying to dig it) but Wikipedia lists two functioning mirrors of the real Wikileaks' wiki. The mirror is slow, but seems to be complete.

I think I know what he was refering to when he was talking about secret gag orders.
Google the "Minton report"
http://mirror.wikileaks.info/wiki/Guardian_still_under_secret_toxic_waste_gag/The newspapers were gagged from even reporting that a report about toxic waste dumping existed at all, they were aslo gagged from talking about the gag order.
It's not all conspiracy theory crap. -

mirror.wikileaks.info uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
The certificate is only valid for vibe.devries.ch.(Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)
Who are vibe.devries.ch????

Wikileaks Mirrors
Currently it appears that the main wikileaks site is unavailable. Thankfully wikileaks is actively mirrored, a list of which can be found on http://wikileaks.info/, http://mirror.wikileaks.info/wiki/Afghan_War_Diary,_2004-2010/ ought to take you straight to the original page. On a side note, the guardians' data blog have a nice writeup and sample of the data: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/datablog/2010/jul/25/wikileaks-afghanistan-data
