Re:BBC iPlayer for the large UK ex-pat pop of NZ
You're welcome. I live in Canada, and I use it to access US Netflix and the BBC. This kind of stuff has been around for ages. Although this is the first case I can think of that an ISP is offering it direct to their customers.

WiTopia
Pick your country and protocol. Works with the BBC, Hulu, Vimeo, Pandora, Netflix, probably just about everything else. Of course, you have to pick a US proxy for Hulu, a British proxy for the BBC, etc.

Re:The simple solution
Hotspot shield is oversubscribed, especially for streaming anything. If you are willing to shell out on the order of US$40/year, get a pptp account from http://witopia.net/. That works for hulu, last.fm, and probably pandora (although I haven't personally tried that one).

Re:None of them
I use Hulu from the UK through the Witopia VPN service. Such services totally break IP-based location checking systems.

Re:WTB HULU outside of the US
Have a look at http://witopia.net/. Works excellently, about US$40/year.

Use a VPN
I just use a VPM [witopia.net] as long as it tunnels out of a US server some times it comes out via Europe though depends on server load.

Radius at home?I've been using SecureMyWiFi by WiTopia (same guys that founded Full Mesh Networks), basically they create provide the Radius authentication within their secure servers (WPA2-Enterprise) and so long as you have compatible gear it's reasonably easy to set up. It might not be perfect, and certainly someone here could find a way to defeat it eventually (potentially), but for the price and convenience it's a heck of a lot better than anything else I've come across. You can see for yourself at their website.
*Caveat, I HAVE NO AFFILIATION TO WITOPIA OR FULL MESH, just have had good results personally.
