Re: What an empty life
One thing that Republicans/Conservatives (speaking as one myself) need to do better is recognized that racism still actually exists, but may not be typically seen by most white people. I heard the lone black Republican senator was pulled over seven times in a year. He admitted a couple of those were for speeding, but others seemed to be for trivial matters, or nothing at all.
Scott went on to describe a time an officer pulled him over and began questioning if the car he was driving was stolen. "An officer pulls me into the median and starts telling me that he thinks perhaps the car is stolen. Well, I started to ask myself because I was smart enough not to ask him, asking myself, is the license plate coming in as stolen? Does the license plate match the car? I was looking for some rational reason that may have prompted him to stopping me on the side of the road."
It's unfortunate that the movement got started on a very questionable incident, in which it became apparent that the police did nothing wrong, because it gave the political opposition a reason to disbelieve the rest of the story. That shows the damage that "fake news" can do.

Re:fight it out in court
There was a story a couple of weeks ago where a cop pulled this guy over basically for being black. The cop tells him to get his license and registration, so the guy reaches for the glove box. Cop freaks out and shoots the guy because he thinks the guy is going for a gun. Panic makes people stupid. Luckily for the guy, panic also makes you a lousy shot.

Re:That's not news
You are very idealistic. I don't mean to sound like I'm speaking down to you, but you really don't understand. Some parents don't give a rat's behind about their children. Kindergarten kids who get themselves up to go to school because there is no food at home. Kids that get TWO meals a day... school lunch and school breakfast. This, despite their parents being given EBT cards for food. Ohh and let's not forget our wonderful earned income credit system. Poor people with 3 kids get a check for $9600 in the spring of each year. In my town, Sumter SC, a kid died of malnutrition despite the family getting food stamps and earned income credit. I had occasion to speak to a guy who worked at the same place as the dad. They had no idea how he'd afforded to get the new 22" rims for his car and were shocked to find that it was him in the newspaper with a dead little girl. Child starves to death That safety net wouldn't work anyway!

Re:It's about time
As a fellow South Carolinian, I say "Here here!" I will also proudly vote against him. It seems like the only time South Carolina gets in the news it's just another story making us look like idiots.
For those of you who would like to see the local opinion on McMasters, here's a story with a lengthy comment section from WLTX, a Columbia TV station.
