    FWIW, here's the URL for Xitami. It's a free web server for win32 and it works rather well (including a web-based configuration interface).

    Microsoft used to have personal web server installed with win98 - i have no idea if they still have that as an option and no idea what server it reported to be.

    A nice little lightweight webserver for windows is xitami - I havent used it in this millennium :) but it was great and supposedly still is.

    It's a very sensible thing to make since it's cheap and eliminates much of the nasty #ifdef 'portability' one sees in programs.

    You can see an example of a multithreaded web server using a similar portability library on .

    I remember showing this web server and its multithreaded / portability model to the IBM Apache team in December 1999 during the Bazaar at New York. Maybe they got some inspiration from it.

    Me too. Can you get your hands on ADSL? Really cheap, and with dynamic dns (dyndns.org) and a free webserver of your choice (Xitami is a quick and easy one Winblows), you can have gigabytes of webserver space plus nearly unlimited monthly bandwidth (although a capped instantaneous serving-speed of 15 kilobytes/s).

    Then they have no recourse but to go directly to you.

    The Linux one I like to use is the one my main hosting service uses. Its called Plusmail and is used on I-Denity.com.

    Of course you could go with the server/web admin that Xitami offers. My 2 bits.
