Slashdot Live @ LinuxWorld
We're now streaming audio live from the LinuxWorld show floor. You can get it at
mp3-2.thesync.com:8000 (and thanks to TheSync for making this happen). Hopefully we'll have video coming out soon. You can now see our
fancy dandy live webcam.
You see guys, *this* is why the penguin logo was a bad idea. You can't dress up a girlie like an over-stuffed, flightless bird and expect her to look sexy.
I guess the *BSD camp really is superior.

How would proper
(XMMS/Liveice plugin update - http://star.arm.ac.uk/~spm/software/liveice-xmms.
Must... put... more... servers... that's kinda what's nice about icecast/shoutcast, you can have one streaming location that streams to several servers that can handle a lot of bandwidth.

Right, now, all those with cable modems who are currently hearing it, start streaming it from your computer too. Post your ip here. *grin*. All others, bugger off so I can get on.
Seriously though, mp3-2.thesync.com resolves to only one IP address. Surely slashdot of all people would have figured we are gonna need more than one server. Never-the-less, TheSync set it up, so slashdot probably didn't have much control over it. Its a great idea, I just wish I could listen to it too! :)

I use to have a funny sig, but slash cut it off, and I forgot what the punchline was.
Here's an article about /. and Andover.Net that you won't see passing the the submitter's desk. Upside takes an inside look at Slashdot and Andover net. The article is called Andover.Net's Media Kludge.
we got it all going, then icecast flaked for a what seemed to be a very long and very nerve-racking time. sorry about that; it's all better now. of course, if you're listening now, you're not hearing anything because we're not saying anything. :) just keep it running in the background, and crank it up when the next show starts. in the meantime, you can bring up the webcam and watch me typing this to you. :-)
