IBM Creates 1st Single Molecule Computer Circuit
Llowfyr writes "Yahoo has reports that IBM researchers have created the first ever single molecule computer circuits which may someday lead to a new class of smaller and faster computers that consume less power than today's machines. The IBM team made a `` voltage inverter '' -- one of the three fundamental logic circuits that are the basis for all of today's computers -- from a carbon nanotube, a tube-shaped molecule of carbon atoms that is 100,000 times thinner than a human hair. IBM scientists will present the achievement today at the 222nd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society being held in Chicago and it appears in the web edition of the ACS' journal Nano Letters."

Man, this Moore's law shit is just as bad as the Beowulf shit. Every time something new comes up, someone just has to ask how it will affect Moore's law. WHO CARES?
Why is this exactly under "ask slashdot?"
Actually the brain trust running VA Linux has systematically spun off or cut off every revenue generating opportunity. They have ignored every opportunity to gain revenues from services while pushing Source Forge and duplicating the very services that they are shutting down. They have purchased businesses and then shut them down. They continue supporting OSDN whose business has never demonstrated profitability. They are promoting Source Forge as if it had no competitors. They seemed trapped in some sort of mind warp where they think they are exempt from good business judgement, competiton, and sound management. Larry Augustin has repeatedly demonstrated he is neither leader nor manager and certainly not a CEO. The Board of VA Linux is certainly to blame because all of the actions taken by Augustin had to be approved by them. Of course with Eric Raymond on the board sound business judgement would not be unexpected. Some one here estimated that VA would last 5 quarters. I think that is optimistic, they have systematically stripped the company of every revenue opportunity and every manager that had any sense or ability leaving only the politically correct believers and Source Forge. Source Forge cannot sustain the company and now there is nothing left to salvage. The wisest move would be to shut down entirely and use the money to pay off the investors. The lesson learned -- never invest in a company run by unprofessional and inexperienced management.
