Battlebots Battles It Out: TV Show Versus IRC

I just heard some sad news on TV, apparently Slashdot website creator, Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda, was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after having his penis sliced off. Authorities say the accident involved Rob's penis, his computer, and an illegal computer device imported from China that was designed to stimulate the penis during cyber-sex. The authorities aren't releasing many details yet as to how it happened, but they suspect that the device malfunctioned which caused his penis to be sliced off. However, there is speculation among the Slashdot community that the Open Source Operating System "Linux" is to blame, for its faulty structure and lack of professional development. There is no word of whether there was any foul-play involved from hackers amongst the Linux community.
Whenever a corporation/individual does something the Slashdot/Internet community doesn't like, the response is invariably "BOYCOTT X". e.g. Boycott RIAA, boycott Adobe, etc.
I would simply like to make an observation that none of these actions have ever, ever, ever had any effect. The same hypocrites who frequent these pages and suggest boycotting the MPAA turn right around and stock up on Star Wars / Anime / Whatever DVDs. I could say I boycotted Adobe since I've never purchased an Adobe product in my life. I love warez. My entire computer is warezed. I have warez win98se, warez win2k, warez linux... well, maybe not the last one. I boycott EVERYTHING!
Anyway, you mentioned a boycott of this show, and I'm sure this sentiment will be echoed by others, but I guarantee you that 99.999% of the people who already watch this program will continue to do so. These "boycott X" sentiments are a waste of bandwidth and only serve to make the person who suggested them look foolish.

Every time a site like this is crushed by corporaet power, we see a small part of what was great about the internet disappear. Sure the IRC is filled with childish actions, and bots just add to the childishness. But those children are geeks using tools written by geeks on a network developed by geeks, and now... what was my point... oh yeah, and now some money grubbing corporation has stolen a small part of our childish geek actions in the name of "trademark". Some day we will look at the internet, remember what it was, and wonder why the only thing left is the Web with all of its redundant pop-up adds for cameras that open new adds for cameras when you close them. Yes, someday corporate stupidity and greed will leave us with nothing but constant advertisement on the internet and we will try to fight, but we will have no place to put our bots to talk to non-existant IRC servers to constantly publish "M1cR050f7 5uX" every 1.5 seconds on our favorite channel there by crippling our ability to do anything.

IIRC, their lawyer is actually a semi-trained spider-monkey with a happy-hacker keyboard & one of those overpriced think-geek-eclipse lights, who just types, and types, and issues press releases every-so-often.
He's the individual responsable for VA stopping their hardware distribution, not the fact that VA hardware is 98% garbage 2% paint.
Battlebots is, frankly, a crappy show and nobody watches it. This sham of a corporation will be out of business by next week anyways.
