Comparing Clarke/Kubrick's 2001 To Now

angkor wrote us about a recent Economist article that explores and compares the differences between Clarke/Kubrick's vision of 2001, and what we've got. Of course, I'd point out that the literary one wasn't meant to be a literal 2001; but this an interesting comparasion nonetheless.

Let me get this straight - you *actually* believe that mankind, people, have evolved from ape-like beings?
I mean, 2001 was a good read, sure, but aren't you taking this a bit too far?

I've never understood the religion of evolution, I guess the believers just ignore the facts.

CmdrTaco writes us about how in the real 21st Century, there is not this woman who outlaws sex forcing these teenagers to dress up as girl and go to an all-girl college to stop her from doing it. There aren't any robots with huge cocks either, unless you count the Giver.
