Star Trek TNG DVDs

pgudge writes "startrek.com had a post about the paramount release of Star Trek The Next Generation on DVD. Claimed a around $100 for the season pack, including 7 DVD's. And that other season are to be released every other month thereafter. all done in Dolby Digital 5.1. Release date expected 26th march" Good way to watch them without suffering through TNN's ridiculous image squashing technology (Proudly proving that in the future everyone is either a pro wrestler, or shaped like a pear!)

Yeah, it's really easy to pick out those end-of-season low-on-cash episodes: "Data's cat suffers from distemper and Worf learns a lesson about sharing when he takes square-dancing lessons on the holodeck. Picard gets a haircut. Wesley shaves for the first time."

What, and miss Counselor Troi in the short skirt and knee-high boots they stuck her in through the first season? I guess they thought they needed some thigh to keep the borderline geeks coming back, so they added a splash of "Sex Kittens go to Mars" to the series. :)

How about skip all episodes where:

Picard appears to be made of wood, or

Riker has that shit eating "I get *lots* more than the Captain" grin on his face, or

Dr. Crusher appears to be the most masculine crew member, or

Weasely appears to be the most feminine crew member, or

Troi fails to show any cleavage.

      Three words: "Shades of Grey".

I can't recall the exact details, but one of the writers/producers' own comments on the show was "It's shit. Utter shit.".

And what about Data's cat Spot? That cat had more changes than any other character since it seemed to change gender more than once! In the episode "Genesis" it gave birth, but then again in "Generations" they refer to Spot as "he" several times.

Rent the DVD and while watching it, simultaneously record your *own* commentary track on your PC. MP3 it and sell it to geeks on your website for oh, I dunno, $7. Then we can just hit 'mute' and queue up the MP3 while watching the DVD.

Heck, I'll pay $10 if you'll do an imitation of Marinia Sirtis. Make it $15 if you throw in a passable William "F'ing" Shatner.

Well, I'm not exactly objective here, but I think the 4th season was the best one. I can't quote you titles and guest stars (and I'm sure I'll catch hell for that), but I thought we had more winners than losers that year.

And, of course, in a flash of brilliance, I chose to celebrate that streak of great shows by quitting.
