Intel "Northwood" vs. Athlon XP 2000+

Augustus writes: "LinuxHardware.org has just published their results in the Pentium 4 verses Athlon XP war. In this review, the new Pentium 4 'Northwood' 2.2GHz is pitted against the Athlon XP 2000+. To level the playing field, both platforms use DDR memory which make for some interesting results."

Well, maybe they ditched all the load balancing and extra hardware and placed only these machines as the webserver. It's a new benchmark: how long does a system last a nice /.'ing?

The quote was from Harold Reynolds during the Little League World Series (the second to last round, I believe)... a bilingual 12 year old got hit in the head with a pitch, and apparently started talking to his coach in the wrong language... It struck me funny...

I mean, the points are valid. But doesn't anyone care that Intel has proved their chips are far more reliable under heat-emergencies than the AMD CPUs?

Yes, the Palomino has improved on this but it's like buying a car. Sure a Porshe Boxster is fast, and costs a fraction of the 911. But which car is a proven vehicle?
