The article points out that since Apple has managed to build a quite usable system on top of NetBSD, it should be doable to do the same for open-source interfaces."

    This is just like the dark days of the windows registry.

    Obscure syntax and things buried levels deep.

    It takes 14 steps to add an /etc/hosts entry using the NetInfo system is one example of what I mean.
