New Anime Block Starts Tonight Cartoon Network
Silverhammer writes "Just a reminder that the new five-hour Saturday night Toonami block starts
tonight on Cartoon Network. It includes the american premieres of three of Bandai's new (or at least newly dubbed) anime series: Yu Yu Hakusho (11pm EDT), Pilot Candidate (12pm), and Gundam 0083 (12:30pm)." Also in the list is
old favs Tenchi, Bebop, and Outlaw Star as well
as the non-anime but still cool Justice League, which
I've been enjoying, but is it just me, or are there
only like 4 episodes that they just keep looping? I'll be Tivo'ing each
of the new shows for a few weeks in hopes that they
are good.
I'm still first in line to vote for a Toonami channel.
It is just now that I have realized what I was really tuning into each and every Saturday morning was in actuality Socialist Propaganda!! Yes that is correct, Papa Smurf and all of his little Smurf minions are not the happy little characters Hanna Barbara would have us believe! The cartoon was really created by the Russian government in order to indoctrinate the youngest members of western society with Socialist beliefs and ideals thus destroying their resistance to the imminent Russian invasion that was to occur when this generation (my generation) grew up.
To prove my point I submit that 1.) They live in a communal village and are discouraged to leave the village without the company of their fellow Smurfs. 2.) Every Smurf has his own specific job and does not deviate from that job. The job even becomes part of their personality and their name (Brainy Smurf, Handy Smurf, etc.) 3.) If ever a Smurf decides to strike out on his own he is cast into danger in some way of another and it is up to the collective to save him. 4.) Papa Smurf looks an awful lot like Karl Marx plus, he wears all that red.
And let us not forget Smurfette, the lone female Smurf and the embodiment of community property.
In the face of such convincing evidence, it is easy to mark the Smurfs as the Socialists they are, and their nemeses Gargamel (and his maladjusted cat Azrael, a not so subtle attack on ISRAEL) is the personification of Capitalism; out for himself and profit trying to destroy the peaceful commune of Smurfs.
Thankfully our resistance was not destroyed, thanks to the determination of other cartoons such as G.I. Joe and Richie Rich who's goal it was to instill in the children of the western world the morals and values of Capitalism.

Grow the hell up and stop watching cartoons.

but today is a sad day for animation ...
RIP Mr. Jones - you were one of a kind..

You need to explore new angles. Do not box yourself into only Jew hating trolls. I understand the need for troll specialists, but you should explore other fields in the world of trolldom. There is a whole world of trolls for you (s)troll through.
I am into the copy and paste.
Why is something like this even news worthy on a site like slashdot? Perhaps if it was the *end* of a long-running series I could see it being news worth, but this is just free a (huge) advertisement for something totally non-tech related.
The really funny part of this is that Silverhammer isn't kidding.
Most of the time when they announce some old actor or director passing on, I may feel some tinge of sadness, but generally it is as if hearing about a stranger. Hearing about Chuck Jones made me incredibly sad, much more than I ever would expect. But I guess it makes sense, this man has defined so much of what we know about animation. He created idols that are essentially timeless. I'm very glad his work will live on, but I think this is one person we can all agree we shall miss.

I just started up my web browser and began to click through my various daily news sites when I saw the huge breaking news headline on CNN.com that read Bob Hope dead at 99.
I'm both shocked and saddenned by this loss, as Bob was a great man who was known by many as America's most prized ambassador of good will around the world.
He was born Leslie Towns Hope on May 29, 1903 in Eltham, England, and made his show business debut in 1924 in a dancing act with partner Lloyd Durbin in a Fatty Arbuckle Revue.
Mr. Hope starred in 60 movies and has been honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences five times. Even more impressive, he was cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Honored Entertainer" of all time with over 1,500 awards and citations for humanitarian and professional efforts, including the "Congressional Gold Medal" the "Medal of Freedom," the "Honor of Knight Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire," and the "Congressional Resolution 75." This last honor made Bob Hope the first American in history to be made an honorary veteran.
This wonderful man has also received 54 Honorary Degrees including seven Doctor of Laws, 19 Doctor of Humane Letters, and 11 Doctor of Humanities.
Younger people may know Mr. Hope best for his passion for the game of golf that is so legendary. For 40 years, he has hosted the "Bob Hope Desert Classic" in Palm Springs, raising millions for Desert Charities.
He was a great man and will surely be missed.
Thanks for the memories,
