Matthew Rothenberg writes: "CIO Insight has a case study that describes how Tokyo's Tsutaya video stores are tracking their users' shopping habits in real time via NTT DoCoMo's i-Mode wireless services and devices. 'We're not interested in merely renting videos to people,' Tsutaya founder Muneaki Masuda says. 'We're collecting lifestyle information, and the possibilities of that are, over time, enormous.'"

This is because it is featureful and robust. The Open Source crowd would like you to think that it is 'bloatware', but they just want to diflect your attention away from the fact that Open Source software actually has no features and nothing can be accomplished using it. This is some sort of badge of honor for them.
Rest assured that when your install is finished you will have the most stable, feature laden, robust, reliable operating system to be had anywhere.
