    Excellent post, thanks.

On a different note, this is the first time I have visited Slashdot in a great while. Thanks to a Google News link I return, like a salmon, to find that nothing has changed in the years I've been away. Geeks are still quick to point out how everything will fail due to some minor flaw that only they are smart enough to notice, totally unaware that most normals not only noticed it before they did, but don't find it quite the insurmountable obstacle geeks do, because normals are normal and geeks are painfully geeky.

I'm also pleased to see that the trolling continues unabated. Sadly, no crapflooding that I can see beyond the normal regurgitation of lame jokes.

Also, I intend to purchase one of these cellular telephone handsets. I can see why the tyical geek wouldn't though, it would probably take more whining than they can squeeze out between Cheet-O handfuls to get their parents to cough up that kind of cash.

You really should rethink your position. Load up gortbusters.org. I did, and it changed my global outlook enormously.

The site has everything you would expect from a site named gortbusters. An alien headed mascot on top of earthy colors with a sun-like deal that I saw one of tatted on the back of a pseudo hippie girl once, surrounded by grassy borders and even grassier text. Very gorty. Or anti-gorty I suppose.

It addition to the wonderment of its graphical bliss the site has several content based features that set it apart from the countless billions of other gort focused sites. In one article the author lays bare the bias of the mass media outlets, a fresh new topic that has long deserved a hard look. The evilness if President Bush is dealt with with the same level headed unerring logic as capitalism in general. It has less traffic than Geekizoid you say? So what! If he keeps posting the same unverified shit you can get on any other college boy weblog, as if it were gospel, he is bound to get some traffic flowing. It is only a matter of time. Reserve your low UID now so you can sell it on Ebay later.

Maybe you could rework the source of Bone-O-Rama to help me FP his site.

That only matters if you are a broke fucker.

My time is more valuable than yours I suppose. Spending $200 and 5 minutes to install a working operating system that doesn't require constant editing of text files to function is a good deal for me. I have girls to fuck and drinks to pound. I don't have time to wrench my own software.

What about the part where the fuck little boys? Does that strike you as ethical?

I ask because they have been fucking little boys a hell of a lot longer than they have been circumventing the distribution system of a for-profit company that gives away their product and is built around the philosophy that no one should be able to own anything. The former strikes me as a more pressing issue.

I remember when Windows XP came out. I went to the store and bought a CD. Popped the CD in my drive and, while it installed itself, I went and fell asleep in the sun. Yeah, I waited in line for 5 minutes.

You, by contrast, you spend days and days to connect to an rickety ass FTP server so you can download an infected copy of an operating system with 1/8 the features of mine and a host of shit, half finished applications that don't do anything that anyone actually wants to do with a computer.

I hear that LCD displays don't work with Linux. Anyone know if that is just a specific distro?

I'm on Windows 2000 right now so I get to use pretty much any hardware that has ever been made by anyone anywhere just by plugging it in and waiting a few seconds. I am interested in switching to Linux because I have a lot of free time on my hands and I was hoping to amuse myself by editing text files so my mouse scroll wheel would work.
