I Wanna Watch Cartoons!

aztektum writes "Since Saturday's tend to be slow days and it is Saturday morning I thought I'd send along Cartoon Network news. Ain't It Cool has a breakdown of Cartoon Networks 2002 itinerary." Several of the shows have been mentioned here before (Pilot Candidate and Gundam 0083 are both enjoyable so far. As is YuYu). Mentions the arrival of new DBZ in september. Also lots of non anime bits including Justice League (Many new episodes!). Also new Harvey Birdman, Brak, and Sealab 2021 although Space Ghost seems absent from the roster. Anyway, there are a lot of other shows mentioned too, but those are the shows that I have commanded tivo to snag ;)

would be a much better replacement for Nightline than Dave Letterman.

    1) he doesn't age

    2) entirely removed from the depressing world of news and politics that Letterman insists on finding funny

    3) Is actually funny

Here's something to try if you're bored. Cartoon Network is the only channel on my DirecTV lineup (besides the PPV movies) which I can get in Spanish. You go to the menu and change the Audio Language settings.

Not all the shows come in Spanish, but a bunch do. It's a good way to learn. I actually prefer Dexter's voice in Spanish than in English. Johnny Bravo, Scooby Doo, and lots of the old Warner Bros. cartoons work too.

If you don't mind the mindless, censored, cut for commercials crap they show on TV networks, fine. However if you want something of a bit higher quality, then I suggest trying anime:

    1. Start researching anime on the Internet, find something to your taste, and give it a try. I suggest any Miyazaki flic for starters.

    2. After that find a local anime club. Chances are that they have a nice video collection that you can check out for *FREE*. You'll also be introduced to every aspect of anime, and you'll know what to look for now.

    3. Now you've probably noticed that fansubbed anime is quite nice in that you get to see material you would probably NEVER EVER SEE IN YOUR NATURAL LIFE. Start buying tapes from distributors.

    4. IRC has numerous channels dedicated to anime and "digisubbing." I suggest you check them out.

    5. www.streamload.com is a media trading service that has HUGE amounts of bandwidth. People trade anime collections now that are monstrously huge (over 1TB). Search for streamload trade forums on Google.

    6. Go to Manga and Anime conventions.

If you get to this point, I doubt you'll ever turn back.

You forgot to mention the friendly fans who never take on a condescending tone.
