DragonBall: The Live Action Movie
mystyc writes "scifi wire has a disturbing piece on how Twentieth Century Fox acguired the movie rights to the Dragon Ball franchise. What is disturbing is that they plan to do a live action dragon ball movie! You'd think hollywood would have learned their lessons from such notable live action anime failures as The Guyver, Fist of the North Star, and others who's names must not be spoken. Then again, hollywood doesn't work that way."
How can people compare Cowboy Bebop to Evangelion?!?!
Evangelion is the only piece of anime ever to make me cry - twice (at the risk of including spoilers, I will only say that the plotlines included Asuka and Dr. Akagi in episodes 23-24 and End of Eva Part 1, respectively). I would even go so far as to say that Anno is one of the great writers of our time - although its format and target audience prohibit it, Eva is as worthy to be canonized as a classic as any piece of modern literature.
Cowboy Bebop is a silly little series about a guy, a girl, a big guy with scars, and a chick who go flying around the galaxy looking for bounties in a ridiculous "Wild West" setting. 'Nuff said.
I've considered long and hard the possibility of turning Eva into a live-action movie, and have concluded that, done on the cheap (as it would inevitably have to be), it would be the worst travesty ever visited upon mankind in history.
