FCC: Cable ISPs Need Not Give Competitors Access

Unlike telephone companies, cable companies are required only to share their lines when specifically told to by the government. As a condition of the AOL Time Warner merger, that company was forced to offer its consumers a choice of Internet service providers on its high-speed lines. Thursday's vote, classifying cable Internet as an "information service" rather than a telecommunications service that is subject to the open-access provision, makes sure that cable companies won't have to share anytime soon."

A proper mathematician would put a zero before each decimal point for clarity, thereby getting around the yet-to-be-accepted page-widening filter.

Lunchtime Bukkake

There's a sandwich shop a few blocks up the street from my office. I usually eat there about twice a week. Over the past several months, I've been studying the sandwich artists that work there.

The procedure for ordering a sandwich at this place, goes something like this... stand in a long line that winds through the cattle chutes directly in front of the sandwich artists, watch these people as they make other peoples' sandwiches, try to figure out who is making the best sandwiches and who you should avoid, then hope you get lucky enough to be called upon by one of the better sandwich makers.
Now I mentioned that I've been studying these sandwich artists for several months. I've been focusing my research mainly into four different sandwich artists. They are:

The Crack Head - Sure this title is overly used sometimes, but in this case... it fits so perfectly that it can't be improved upon. She has half her teeth missing, the other half are not in good shape either. She weighs about 80 lbs, and is so high strung that she appears to be bouncing off the walls.

Horny Old Woman - I swear that this 50-something year old woman flirts at me.

Sandwich Bukkake Man - The guy who takes a little too much pleasure in putting WAY too much mayo on all his sandwiches.

Cocktail Melvin - This guy apparently watched too much of Tom Cruise's "Cocktail" as a kid. He tries to entertain his audience while he builds his sandwich. He spins loaves of bread, tosses salt shakers behind his back, tosses tuna salad through the air into the roll... making you unsure how to react. Does he want applause? Does he want a big tip? Should I acknowledge this odd sandwich performance or just pretend it's a normal occurrence to have someone juggle my meal? I have no idea what his real name is, but he looks like a Melvin.

Today's lunch visit was typical of most. I noticed there were three unknown sandwich makers working, along with Crack Head, Sandwich Bukkake Man, and Cocktail Melvin. I decided I would be happy with anyone but Crack Head. As I was waiting I observed yet another traumatized victim of the Crack Head. I watched, amused, as Crack Head did a little dance as she presented the sandwich to a young couple... the problem was that a Crack Head dancing often resembles an epileptic throwing a seizure. The couple walk away exclaiming, "OH... MY... GOD!" The Crack Head calls for her next victim, but the guy passes! A classic, yet bold move... he says he doesn't know what he wants yet, but we all know he just doesn't want the Crack Head to make his sandwich.

Finally I get to the head of the line... Crack Head appears busy... I might get lucky. Cool, I end up with Sandwich Bukkake Man. "I'll take an avocado and cheese on wheat, no mayo, and easy on the mustard" I say. He grabs the mustard bottle and gets a certain look in his eye... once again making me uneasy about the fluids he's generously spooging onto my roll. In an odd jerking motion, he shakes the mustard to the top of the bottle and begins furiously squeezing mustard. I've found that mustard is less disturbing to watch than mayo, but somehow the familiar motion of his arm still makes me wonder if he's thinking of some other condiment. His whole body quivers from the wild shaking motion. I'm just waiting for his eyes to roll back in his head at any second as he's clearly visualizing dumping a huge load onto some young Asian girls face.

Sandwich Bukkake Man, I rate this sandwich an 8.
