And You Thought The Xbox Controller Was Big

dereferenced writes: "For those of you that think the GameBoy Advance is too small, has this guy got something for you! Introducing the three-feet-tall GameMan. Created as an art design project, the GameMan is a fully working, life-size, replica of an original Nintendo GameBoy. It is made from the guts of an old computer and a new flat-panel monitor. The creator has detailed its creation both in pictures and in this development journal."

I know the owner of this site (from another mesage board) and he said that he didn't want to see it on /. (due to bandwith) Unfortunatly, by the time he mentioned that, someone already posted the link on ars, which is how I imagine it worked its way over here.

I know this is off-topic, but it's FUD that comes up quite often. Let me first say that yes, I do realize that the XBox controller is large. However, having said that, only those who have never used one (the fixed-position controllers on the XBox store displays don't count, because you can't hold those in a comfortable position) would complain about the XBox controller. Its largeness makes it feel very solid in your hand, more like a power tool than a game controller, while the ergonomic design and button layout makes the main action buttons and sticks easily accessible while holding the controller in a comfortable position.

This being slashdot, anecdotal evidence is considered irreproachable, and so I have some anecdotal evidence of my own. I've played many gaming consoles, from the original NES to the Genesis and SNES, through the N64 and Playstation (which would be the same as the PS2), and finally the GameCube and the XBox. Out of all of those controllers, the XBox controller is the only one with which I've ever been able to play for multiple hours without cramping or fatigue. The others were too small, or oddly shaped, or, in the case of the NES controller, had sharp corners. The XBox controller just fits right in my hand, and is as comfortable as console gaming gets.
