Living on Internet Time... Like Thomas Edison Did
securitas writes: "If you think that dotcommers are the first people to live on Internet time, then take a trip to the 19th century (NYT Story, here's a Yahoo link). Thomas Edison had 10,000 researchers and scientists working at his Menlo Park labs, who slept on their desks, and had the same problems pleasing the investment community as today's tech companies. The result? Over 1000 patents and many inventions that we take for granted today."
close your fucking I tags!!!
Headaches, and the careers of 1000's that we take for granted.
Close the darn tag
fucking 20 second minimum!!!!!
Sorry, knee jerk reaction...
Money grubbing corporations! Stealing ideas from thin air!
Whoops, it's uncontrollable... Sorry about that
i don't believe in the 19th century.
Italics are busted again.

Looks like somebody forgot an . Bad slashdot.
likewise its not your fault you didn't realize that OpenBSD has no smp support and that in fact, You Have Been Trolled!
My login won't work. Somebody please post a mirror!
Writing open source software?
The slacker.
Shit, I don't just remember Microsoft Bob.
I also remember TopView from IBM. Their weak multitasking environment (a task switcher, really) designed in the 8088 days.
I also remember, though, that the first port of UNIX to the 8086 processor was Microsoft Xenix, and it was at the time it came out up-to-speed with all the other Unices.
But you were just trolling, eh?
Nice troll. (End sarcasm.)
So which one are you? bc? qpt? someone else?
BTW, next time try to weave Linux zealotry and religion into your trolls somehow.
I just moved to Indianapolis.
There are a hell of a lot of plants making fucking auto parts.
Geez.
The Turing Machine DID NOT change the world. Had Turing never existed, we'd still pretty much be where we are right now. It's not like no one had ever thought of building a computer before Turing. Once the first computers were build, someone would have said "hey, I wonder what's computable..." and they would have come up with everything Turing did. Turing was just some loser fag.
People are caught by trolls like this on every story, and yet they *still* manage to get modded up to at least +2. Does anyone understand what a troll is? Moderators? Or are you all just a bunch of fucking retards? Jesus Christ. No wonder everyone's leaving slashdot for places that don't suck (and where people understand what a troll is).
You might try putting out a request on alt.binaries.ebooks or one of those similar bookwarez groups - I did see (and snagged, I think) a nonsensationalist biography of Tesla pass through there once.
Add to this list the AC system that makes electricity transmission practical. And by the way, it was Telsa that invented radio, not Marconi. Marconi made a better radio, but not the first.
I agree that Windows solutions just aren't viable anymore.
I highly suggest keeping up to date on all important happenings in the Linux world as a member and reader of monolinux.
Hey, cool.
I Did Not Know That.
Thanks.
You must be new to the internet.
Sad but true, man. Sorry.
I remeber an anecdote about Richard Feynan. He decided that there just werent enough hours in the day (which is true). So he shifted to a 30 hour day, still sleeping 6 or whatever hours in each of his "days". He continued for some time, gradually coming in and out of phase with the work patterns of his colleagues.
And look how brilliant a man he was. Not that his wierd working days was a contributing factor to his greatness, but it was most probably a result of it.
