Solar Sail to be Launched This Year

mad_goldfish writes: "Spaceflight Now is reporting that the Russians are preparing a Solar Sail for launch sometime after September aboard a Cosmos 1 rocket. Apparently most of the components have now been tested and they are getting ready to integrate all the flight components. Just the camera, S-band radio and main computer are yet to be completed."

    You're 100% correct.

    Even if we pay high prices for the next 5 years, it will still pay off in the long run. Once we lose our middle east dependency we are truely in a better world.

    Can you imagine? Now we can respectfully tell those backwater fucks to go back to their donkey-banging.

    A solar sail--Don't get me wrong, it seems reasonable, but what are they really trying to do? What was the purpose of the exploration of the new world for?? The rulers wanted more wealth and possibly slaves, but the explorers just wanted women. So, because Russia is democratic in nature now, we can assume that they aren't doing it for slaves. That leaves wealth and women. I'm pretty sure that this thing is gonna cost a lot of money and really isn't going to be coming back to earth anytime soon--so we're down to women. This raises an interesting question--do the Russians know something we don't?? Maybe, some distant planet filled with women? If there is, all I can say is, we better get there first!!
