Open Source... Mining?
farrellj writes "In mining, geophysical data is the "source code" of the industry, and is usually guarded as closely as Microsoft guards their source code for their programs, sometimes even more so. But one Canadian mining company opened up their data, and reaped the rewards of Open Source in higher profits. Read all about it at: FastCompany. NOTE: Originally seen on Linux Today."
It hurts and stuff.
I ass-crammed a 1 lb can of Foldgers this morning. It was the best part of waking up.
Thank you. I was quite unable to click through to the article page myself.
Nice try, troll. Indeed Windows XP has a significant number of bugs. But just look at these stories, first about Redhat 7 being filled with bugs and a study which says Windows over an 8 month period of time was far more secure than Linux.
Pfft :P
At least when a Linux bug is spotted, it gets shot on the spot, and doesnt get exploited for months until MS releases a patch/service pack.
But enough flamewars.
Who really cares? When did mining fall under the category of "stuff for nerds?" And just as importantly, how the hell is this "stuff that matters?"
Is this what they call 'data mining'?
