Tribes2 Patch for Linux Out

Tom writes "After Dynamix went under, Tribes2 was unsupported for a while, then Sierra signed a contract with GarageGames (the company formed by several Ex-Dynamic guys), but only for the Windows version. Those of us who bought the Linux version ported by Loki were left out in the cold -- until today. Linuxgames has the story. Sam Lantinga of SDL fame did the port/patch."

    Sam Lantinga is one of the coolest guys in opensource today. Hes done a lot for gaming on Linux and his SDL library is being used by hundreds of projects now. I really look up to this guy.

      As a Slashdot regular and a GNU hippie/retard programmer, I suck off men from time to time as well. I have to because otherwise I don't make any money. Open sores are like that.

      Actually, this comment brings up an interesting question.

      In lots of Tribes 2 public games I've played, 'gay' is used as a synonym for 'bad' or 'cheap.' As in, 'shooting me while I was typing was really gay,' or 'spamming the flag with mortars is really gay.'

      How did 'gay' become such a bad word, especially among kids? And how can anyone fight it?

    This is slightly OT, but... excluding 1st person shoot-em-ups (which I take Tribes (2) is?), what are best games on Linux? I haven't really played much anything since CivCTP (which I bought and quite liked, albeit the bigs), and one reason is that most (of the few) Linux-releases were just somewhat boring FPSEUs (I know, matter of taste and all but there must be other players who just couldn't care less about Quake 6).
