Kernel Summit Wrapup
Jonathan Corbet at LWN has posted a terrific summary of the first Day of the Ottawa Kernel Summit, and you should expect the second day soon. In it he relates the greatest hits of the first day's talks, including the AMD Hammer Port, Block I/O, Modules, and more. For mp3s or oggs of this event, check out the Kernel Summit MP3 Repository on SourceForge. The big news is the desire to feature freeze 2.5 within 4 or 5 months. Halloween. I've posted a very small gallery of the group pictures from the summit on my site.
Man, I really can't stand that stuff. I can handle salt and a little butter on popcorn but anything else and it's hard to even go through a handful. It's probably because I'm not a big fan of sweets to begin with.
Wow.
My bad.
If you get a kneejerk reaction, you just know your foot will endup somewhere painful.
IS THIS TRUE???

VA Software Founder Resigns from Board
By Karol Kingsley
Larry Augustin, founder and former C.E.O of VA Software, Monday resigned from the company's board of directors, citing personal reasons.
Augustin founded the open source development company December of 1993 and served as its chief executive officer from the start through June 2002.
Augustin's idea to create a full-service development service with an easy-to-use Web site is inspirational, noted Ali Jenab, president and chief operating officer of VA Software.
"He was the catalyst behind a state-of-the-art software-management system, and fleet of custom advertising delivery sites that provide, efficient targeted online marketing and delivery venues," Jenab said. "Larry's vision remains the guiding force behind VA today."
"On behalf of all VA Software shareholders, employees and customers, I want to thank Larry for his foresight and the tremendous contributions he has made to our company. We wish him well in any future endeavors."
VA's board of directors presently is comprised of: Andre M. Boisvert Chairman, Sagent Technologies; Ram Gupta Executive Vice President, Products and Technology, PeopleSoft; Ali Jenab
President and Chief Operating Officer, VA Software; Douglas Leone Partner, Sequoia Capital; Robert M. Neumeister, Jr. Chief Financial Officer, Myriad Proteomics; Carl Redfield Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Logistics, Cisco Systems; David B. Wright Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Legato
I think it's the B.O. from the hackers rubbing off onto the kernel. I could be wrong - it might also be their bad breath.
chrisd, slashdot editor extraordinaire, has just set his own site up for a slashdotting.
Chris, why did ESR leave the VA board? You of all people will answer this question. You still have your compass pointed true. I think this ontopic since he was not in atttendance at the summit. Hell, he has laid very low. What happened?
If we don't fight for ourselves no one will.
Gayass Anal Cox, why is wearing the corporate hat again?
Also who is the guy with the long hair (front row, all the way in the right)
I think he is yummy.
Someone who knows better than I might wanna tell us the names of these guys.
I just heard some sad news on talk radio - Horror/Sci Fi writer Stephen King was found dead in his Maine home this morning. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
Rock on dude! Motley Crue forever!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WORK!
Whats the deal with the ogg file sizes being like 50%+ bigger than the mp3 sizes? I thought ogg was better compression? Even if its using better quality, seems like a waste... oh well, ill listen to the mp3s
