Lucas Confuses ScummVM With Abandonware
Anonymous Coward writes: "Seems LucasArts finally noticed ScummVm although they seem to be confused about what it is.
ScummVM is a 'virtual machine'(yes like Java) that allows you to play scumm games (Monkey Island, for example) in modern OS (Linux, BSD, err Windows XP) and weird machines like PDAs and the Dreamcast, but Lucas have confused them with an abandonware site."
How can BSD be dying when it has girls like this supporting it? The best Linux can come up with is an obese penguin. What are those Linux people smoking?
What we need are more free software babes like her. This guy looks like he is about to cream his pants standing next to such a fox. Even this old Unix guru looks like he's having trouble keeping his wang under control when close to such an amazing babe. This girl has to be one of the hottest ever! I can tell you that I'll be installing BSD after catching sight of her!
Linux will never be able to compete until it ditches the fat arctic birdlife and gets itself a mascot like this little hottie. Let's face it: there's just no way Tux is ever going to compete with the divine Ceren. She is surely the woman of every computer geek's dreams. Wouldn't you kill to get just this close to her.
Join the campaign for more cute open source babes today!
I would have modded this is up if some of the links were not 404.
We are grateful when fans take such strong interests in our games, and we hope that your interest continues for many years to come. However, and in order to protect our intellectual property interests, we must ask you to take down your site as it infringes on LucasArts's intellectual property ownership interests. We hope that you understand our need to make this request, and we hope that you will comply on or before July 1, 2002 (if you need more time, please let us know). Purely for the record, if the site is not voluntarily taken down by the requested time, then we will be forced to take steps to ask the service provider (sourceforge.net) that it be taken down in accordance with applicable law.
Again, we are grateful for your interests in our games, and this year (our 20th Anniversary) promises to be a great one for our company with many great games being released. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance in this matter.
Best regards,
LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC Business and Legal Affairs
Congratulations on your excellend first post. I applaud you and your efforts to come to this fine acheivement. I am sure you will relish this moment and all of the glory it brings to you. Some day in the distant future you will have your grandchildren bouncing on your knee and will tell them about the time you got first post on slashdot. They will be so proud, and they will marvel as you describe to them the feeling you had when you beat the CLIT and so competently made your first post. Once again congratulations to you on this, your most glorious of days!

Too bad I'm a mere AC and can't mod you down to Irrelevance.
;)
You are how old? Anyone with half a clue would make the immediate connection: Scumm - Monkey Island.
Not some 21st century overgrown CGI frog...

How hard is it to proofread a reply to an official legal request before clicking the "send" button? Remember that this reply could easily show up in court, where the judge could (even subconciously) use your mispellings and grammatical mistakes to bias the case against you. Same goes with CmdrTaco and Hemos and their constant misuse of "then" vs. "than" and "their" vs. "they're". You're supposed to be professional journalists, for crying out loud! Professional journalists have EDITORS!
Netcraft has now confirmed BSD is dying Yet another crippling bombshell hit the beleaguered BSD community when recently IDC confirmed that BSD accounts for less than a fraction of 1 percent of all servers Coming on the heels of the latest Netcraftsurvey which plainly states that BSD has lost more market share this news serves to reinforce what weve known all along BSD is collapsing in complete disarray as further exemplified by failing dead last samagcom samagcom in the recent Sys Admin comprehensive networking testYou dont need to be a Kreskin amdestcom to predict BSDs future The hand writing is on the wall BSD faces a bleak future In fact there wont be any future at all for BSD because BSD is dying Things are looking very bad for BSD As many of us are already aware BSD continues to lose market share Red ink flows like a river of blood FreeBSD is the most endangered of them all having lost 93 of its core developersLets keep to the facts and look at the numbers OpenBSD leader Theo states that there are 7000 users of OpenBSD How many users of NetBSD are there Lets see The number of OpenBSD versus NetBSD posts on Usenet is roughly in ratio of 5 to 1 Therefore there are about 70005 1400 NetBSD users BSDOS posts on Usenet are about half of the volume of NetBSD posts Therefore there are about 700 users of BSDOS A recent article put FreeBSD at about 80 percent of the BSD market Therefore there are 700014007004 36400 FreeBSD users This is consistent with the number of FreeBSD Usenetposts Due to the troubles of Walnut Creek abysmal sales and so on FreeBSD went out of business and was taken over by BSDI who sell another troubled OS Now BSDI is also deadits corpse turned over to yet another charnel house All major surveys show that BSD has steadily declined in market share BSD is very sick and its long term survival prospects are very dim If BSD is to survive at all it will be among OS hobbyist dabblers BSD continues to decay Nothing short of a miracle could save it atthis point in time For all practical purposes BSD is dead BSD is dying
