An anonymous reader writes: "Adventurer Steve Fossett succeeded Tuesday on his sixth try to pilot a balloon solo around the world, crossing the meridian where he started his historic journey June 19, his ground crew at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, announced. Here is the official site, while there's also several other articles, including this one."
While it's certainly a shorter trip than this guy but it's not around the world either (and a lot less expensive).
Grow the fuck up. No one is going to force you to stop saying "Under God". All the 9th Circuit ruling said was that the amended text--"Under God"--constituted an official endorsement of religion. This text was added in 1954, during the peak of the red scare. Now that a lot of the paranoid folks in power in those days have died, society is in a state sober enough to understand why those words were added; more importantly, that those words force school children to pledge allegiance to the Semitic deity, whom they may or may not worship. School is for learning, not for warping childrens' religious views based on some widely accepted yet paranoid fantasy that the Soviets were to wipe Christianity from the face of the Earth.
The Pledge of Allegiance is meaningless--look at how many times Timothy McVeigh must have repeated the pledge during his life.
