AMD's Athlon XP 2700+

kraven_73 writes "According to some Taiwanese sources, AMD will officially reveal its Athlon XP 2700+ processor on the 7th of October. Most interesting is that this CPU will have a 333 MHz FSB. The first implementation of this increased FSB on Athlon platform. It is expected that the novelty will be based on the latest Thoroughbred core stepping 1, just like the current Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+, and will work at 2.17GHz."

    Is Slashdot now being paid by AMD and Intel to push their new products? New processors come out every 2 months; why do we need to have an update every time? I think there have been 4 stories about the P4 2.8, and now one about AMD 2700+. Who cares? Can you put this crap in its own category (Processor announcements) so I can block it? It's ridiculous at this point.

    If this stuff is being paid for by Intel, AMD, or whomever, then Slashdot should really disclose it.

      I wonder if, as part of the OSDN Slashdot Press Package(TM), the company that paid for the press release on Slashdot also gets unlimited moderator points in the story? It seems that way, since everyone saying that this is a stupidass story is being modded down, despite the fact that it is, in fact, a stupid-assed "story". Since LNUX makes $0 or less from Slashdot, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that this is what they're doing.

    Is this news? Now I can see posting about the 2700+ if it was actually released. But saying that some people think it will be released on such a date, is not news, sorry.
