It's common knowledge amoungst audiophiles that you need the best cable to get the best sound.
Those of your sitting smug with your all digital system should take note as well.
Just because your signals are digital doesn't mean that the sound isn't going to change because of the quality of your cable.
Even the brand of hard disk that you use can effect the quality of the audio you get from your system.
You need to check that your hard-disk is insulated correctly as well. Installing vibration isolators in your computer can effect the sound coming out of it.
Want proof? This guy is a sound engineer and has performed extensive tests on different hard drives and transport mechanisms. Did you know that the same file played from the CDR can sound different if it's played from a FireWire hard disk?
I went to HP and was able to find one after about 5 clicks.
Or, I went to AMD's page here and clicked on one of the manufacturers listed. Where I found this dual opteron supporting 16GB ram.
Took me all of 2 minutes.
I was reading a book about stupid laws the other day. The sheer quantity of absolutly inane and crazy stuff that gets passed is mind boggling.
There is one state in the US (I can't remember which) where if your car unsettles a horse, you have to pull over to the side of the road and stop you engine. If the horse is still alarmed by your car, you have to dismantle it and hide it in the bushes.
This is exactly the same class of law. Stupid, stupid, and stupid. It's already out of date, because so few search engines use Meta tags to index content anymore.
Adding SPF to your personal box would not make any difference. The reason those ranges are blocked is because machines in those ranges are often poorly set up (IE allow relaying) or easily compromised by spammers.
All the spammer would have to do for a compromised box with SPF would be to tag their email as "From" your machine, and then spam all they want.
I wanted to run an X app on my home machine, and display it remotely.
Just what X was made for I thought.
First I tried straight X (over ssh -X -C of course). This is on a 256k upstream DSL link.
The performance was pants. Really bad. At first I thought I must be doing something wrong. To be honest, Gimp wasn't too bad, but a Gnome 2 application like Xchat2 was really slow. Menus would take an age to display.
I tried looking around for a low bandwidth solution, but couldn't find any free ones.
I've ended up using VNC over SSH. It's much better than straight X. Plus it's got the added advantage that I can just leave the application running, and connect to it from anywhere.
With X, there is no easy way (xmove was impractical) to leave an application running, and move it between desktops.
During your time running Honeypots, you'll have seen a lot of compromised systems. Is there any incident that's really stuck in your mind because of the audacity of the attempt, or the stupidity of the person attempting the breakin.
If you were a fridge manufacturer and wanted to web-enable your fridges, you would buy as many of these as you built fridges.
Imagine being able to check on the temparature of your fridge over the internet. Even install a web cam inside it. Check what groceries you need from work.
Pow. Cheep, web enabled fridge.
The only problem would be script kiddies. I 0wnzers your cuccumber man
I really think that this is going to be bad for Linux as a whole.
Everybody now is talking about Apple. Sure, It's pretty cool that Macs run Unix, but well, it's not Linux is it?
Geeks are now starting to get Macs, instead of developing for Linux they're playing with all the cool stuff on their mac.
Even Taco has got one! What next, will Linus get one? Will he decide that getting stuff done on his mac is more important than trying to get the next kernel out the door?
Bah. Mac running unix might sound like a good thing, but all we're going to end up with is Apple as the new M$ instead.
I just think it's a really bad thing for the whole Linux community.
Erm, don't get me wrong. Since when is viewing copyright material illegal? This isn't drugs people. You can't proscute somebody for watching a pirate video. You Can prosecute them for distributing it. There is a big difference.
Good luck finding the IP address of every single person on Kazza or Gnutella who is distributing this, then downloading the file from them to keep as evidence against them and them proving it was actually that person who was using that computer at the time.

I'm stunned. I wonder what it was. Heart attack most likely. Although he has been a bit quiet lately. Maybe it was cancer.

Oh my god. I don't believe it! Have you got a link to this news? He was my favourite author. I just can't believe he's dead.
Links, give me links!

It's a MS tablet PC, running WinCE. Looking at the site will show you that.
Perhaps you should modify the sourceforge project to reflect that?
Ah, a typical sourceforge project. "We're almost ready for a beta release!" (Dated 2002), and software release (version 0.0.4 also dated 2002).
Oh right, it was so easy they got it right first time and never had to update it since?

Your job will run overnight, and they'll email you the web page in the morning.
Their terms and conditions are straight forward, no hidden legalese.
It's a good service.
Plus, because I'm an open source developer, they give me a hefty discount! I'm very happy with them.
If you do have a problem, their support is all geeks who have no problem answering any question I've thrown at them.
All the spammer would have to do for a compromised box with SPF would be to tag their email as "From" your machine, and then spam all they want.
Although the cygwin X server is excellent.
Not that I spent a lot of time on it, as I already knew how to set up VNC, it seemed like an idea solution.

Oh yes, or I could have meant to type RedHat 7.2 instead. Whoops.
I'm Still using Linux 7.2, and that's rock solid. Never had to update it.
Bandwidth usage is a bit high for some reason, but other than that I'm glad I moved away from windows.
Although I hear the next release might take the kernel up from 2.0 to 2.2, so watch out!
Where's my Rate all button gone?

I think they were the real cause of the crash, soon they'll start to take over the world unless they're stopped!

The site is not down. It has not been slashdotted. Are you just Karma whoring? I think so.
This is just a blatent copyright violation.
Well, here was me thinking that the morris worm was in 1988, not 1998.
