LinuxOrbit Looks At Libranet GNU/Linux 2.7

GonzoJohn writes "Linux Orbit has reviewed Libranet GNU/Linux 2.7: Other Linux distribution companies have tried to create commercial Linux products based on Debian GNU/Linux, but few have achieved long term success. Progeny Linux comes to mind as a commercial Linux distribution company whose Linux product met with good reviews, but couldn't remain in business. Libranet is a rare exception to this rule. Libranet GNU/Linux has been around quite a while and continues to build a devoted Linux user base on a commercial product based on Debian GNU/Linux. With their most recent release of Libranet GNU/Linux 2.7, Libranet continues to improve on an already solid Linux distribution."

This is the Toshiba Satellite T1960CS, 486 laptop computer seized by the FBI on February 15, 1995, in Raleigh, NC, during the arrest of the world's most celebrated computer hacker, Kevin Mitnick. The laptop is a 486DX with a color LCD, detachable trackball mouse, AT&T 14.4 PCMCIA modem card, power adapter and documentation in FBI evidence bags. The laptop has been signed on the bottom by Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, and says, "You've got the whole world in your hands. --Woz (Free Kevin!). It is also signed by Mitnick himself. The system was shown on the September 27, 2002 episode of The Screen Savers on TechTV, where the signatures on the bottom were authenticated in a special show hosted by Wozniak and Mitnick. A tape of the show will also be included.
This is one of the two laptops allegedly used to hack into networks of major corporations and Tsutomu Shimomura. A letter of authenticity shall be provided with the unit.

I really don't want to slashdot effect the local news services I'm using.

I keep getting calls from loved ones. They're really worried for my life.

I'm North of Wash D.C. in the Maryland burbs of Montgomery county.

Some of the staff from today's meeting dialed in on the bridge so as to limit their travel.

Guns are hard to come by around here. I sure wish I was packing heat right now!

      A couple items:

      1. No pattern as to killings, they span race, age, sex.

      2. It may be two guys driving around in a van.

      Conclusions:

There seem to be few conclusions to draw. Usually these types of shootings have a pattern... Like, if it's a lunatic, then it's usually only a single person. When it's more than one person, there's usually a conspiracy to murder certain individuals, whether it be gang related, race related, etc. etc.

One can't help to wonder if this related to Islamic terrorists.
