Batteries Powered by Leftover Food
Lazyhound writes "Technologists at the University of the West of England in Bristol have come up with a cheap, organic battery that can run on household leftovers, and be manufactured for just £10." 1 W = 1 J/s. 1 kcal = 1 Cal = 4000 J. Therefore, if I want 3 kW of power continuously (which is about how much an average US home uses), I would need to feed my HomeStomach(TM) Generator less than 3/4 Calorie/second. My suggestion is to stock up on Tic-Tacs.
