British Columbia Bows To Breast Cancer Patent

dlek writes "Bowing to pressure from Utah's Myriad Genetics, the government of British Columbia has stopped offering a test for hereditary breast cancer. The price of the test, which looks at two genes responsible for the cancer, has tripled to $3500US. Our public health care system can't afford to pay so we're sending people to Ontario, which is ignoring the patent. People are disappointed we're not doing the same... previous Slashdot mentions are on their original claim and on the Curie Institute's challenge to the patent."

You're the type that would call for no new slave imports or something back then. We need abolishment of all patents and copyrights, nothing less. Most slashdotters agree, we hate intellectual property of any form.

This is worse than murder. It's murder through an illogical system (intellectual property). These lawyers and company people who did this deserve to be killed, preferable in a painful manner.

There's an obvious reason as to why Ontario is ignoring the patent...

That's because Ontario (especially Toronto) rules! All Vancouverites are a bunch of hippy bitches!

Well, fortunately for you pussies, the US is willing to spend 30% of its budget on defense so you don't have to. And how do you respond? By stealing our innovations. When was the last time something worthwhile came out of Canada? Must have been Kids In The Hall, and that was 10 years ago.

The only reason you spend that much on defense is because your country makes so many fucking enemies. Wake up, you self-inflating fucknuts.
