New Starcraft: Ghost Trailers
Bobartig writes "Blizzard Entertainment has put up gameplay trailers for their upcoming console title, Starcraft: Ghost. It looks hot. It's available both in both Quicktime and DivX, with plenty of mirrors."

I really don't like consoles, and the gameplay looks awfully stiff, as I expect from those platforms. /me waits for Deus Ex 2 and Doom III.
I thought your post number was a prime for a while, but then it occurred to me that 4535633 = 1601 * 2833.

So, you've always wanted to be a troll? Good choice. Trolling slashdot is a fun hobby. Let's deal with the basics first:
1. What is trolling?
Trolling is the art of pissing of people with too much free time, namely moderators. It's a highly amusing sport. A sucessful troll can cause tons of havoc.
2. Sound good. How do I troll?
The best trolls are somewhat subtle. For instance, posting "linux sucks!" and you will be immediently modded down. A smart troll might post
"Linux on the desktop is simply not an option right now. It's simply too hard to use. Forget what the typical microsoft hating linux zeolot says - the truth is linux is not a viable alternitive".
The above post is longer, and not a blatent troll. While it will piss off the typical long haired hippie it might even be modded up as insightful!
3. Hmm. Can you give me any tips on my first troll?
Certainly. Don't post typical troll phrases such as "Imagine a beowulf cluster of these!" or include a link to goats.cx. These are far too obvious, and will be modded down without comment. Likewise, whilst gettng first post is fun, don't say fp! I suggest using a little imagination, such as setting up a free redirector (like cjb.net) to point to goats.cx. Try and make the site relevant too the story, such as "Joe MIT hacker making his XOR gate out of water is pretty cool, but it's been done before here . Most moderators are lazy and won't click the link. Chances are you will be modded up as insightful.
4. Any other dirty tricks?
Sure, there's plenty. Whenever anyone includes a link, follow up and say 'Don't click here! it's a goats.cx link!' this will earn you karma whilst getting the sucker modded down. Another one: When the site featured in the story gets slashdotted, claim you have a mirror. Give the IP address of goats.cx as the mirror.
5. What should I avoid doing?
Please *don't* post stuff incolving disturbing sexial experiences of comments. We don't want to hear about what you did with a dog last week, nor why michael (the editor) does with 5 pounds of ice and a shovel a day. Not only is it sick but you give all trolls a bad name. Also, speaking in l337 makes you look like a teenage acne scarred moron. Finally, think carefully before you troll. You are trying to cause havoc. This will not happen if you are modded down within 30 seconds of posting. be subtle.
Have fun, trolling is an honorable sport.

The seven minuite trailer that I saw last night for Doom III really made me want to buy it (not wait for christmas).
This thing makes me think that a release of Geriatric PAC MAN would be a better choice.
Blizzard should really consider a new advertising agency.
I think that there is one that used to work for Microsoft.
They could use stock photos and do a I switched from freecell and Installed my own game type of ad.
They could even try to get some mileage with a diatribe from a stoned teenager

(User #614097 Info) Actually, I for one am rather disappointed with the direction Blizzard is taking. They made great RTS games (Warcraft I/II, StarCraft), and great RPGs (Diablo)... and then they decided that if the two genres were so popular, they ought to mix them.
Warcraft III was like Shakespeare writing a comedy-tragedy. Romeo and the Merry Wives of Windsor, anyone? From what I gather, Ghost is more of the same.

Blizzard pretty much outsourced most of the work to Nihilistic, so it might not have the same 'feel' as blizzard's other games. One thing I loved about Oni (and warcraft III, too) is that the models were somewhat blocky, but at the same time really fluid and beautiful. They moved like a real person (or a real cartoon), and were nicely proportioned. It looks like Starcraft:Ghost will be no different. This is where Everquest fails for me. Their models are like robots from the '50s.
And kudos to Blizzard for releasing it on all consoles at once. Now if only they'd make a PC version. Not likely, esp. considering the fact that my definition of PC specifies to "Mac."

(User #575736 Info) The QuickTime version is in Sorenson format, as I suspected before I even downloaded it. If it was in MPEG4, it would have been about the same size or smaller than DivX, since MPEG4 and DivX share the same video codex, just differing in audio format.
Took me a while to get the QuickTime version, though. The mirrors weren't working, save perhaps File Planet with its mandatory registration, and I couldn't reach Blizzard's own FTP server with a browser. I used a stand-alone FTP client instead to download it.

Sure, from a visual perspective they're different, but in gameplay they're pretty much the same. Behind view and first person are really just views, not gametypes. by Anonymous Coward on Saturday October 26, @01:52AM (#4535671) If the game's done right, the move to FPS can actually be interesting. I remember cursing profusely when I found out GTA 3 was going to be in full 3D, and it turned out to be surprisingly close to the original's gameplay.

going to take me. She had made the appointment 2 weeks earlier at a
bridal shop. After taking me for bridesmaid's gowns she thought it
would be a good humiliation to have to go through the process of being
a bride so that I can fully understand what females go through.
I 'm wearing a black and white check shift dress, it is sleeveless and
has buttons down the front with a v -neck front. Underneath I'm wearing
a white long sleeved blouse with a large collar in a very feminine
look. White stockings, yes stockings held up by a white garter belt,
white panties very lacy and white pumps with a 2 inch heels. Carrying a
white small purse and of course with 3 pearl earrings in each ear, a
matching pearl necklace and pink polish on my acrylic nails. I look
very feminine and I can't believe that I am so trapped in this outfit,
I am so much at my wife's mercy. She has really got me under her
control. I look in the mirror and realize that I really am no longer a
husband or a male but a girlfriend and a female.
As we are walking across the parking lot towards the car I hear my
heels clicking in the familiar sound and realize after these past three
years of being feminized that I now wiggle very animated, like a model
walking down a runway. It is mortifying.
Instead of going in the direction of the bridal shop we are driving
towards Holly's salon which I start to worry. Its not Tuesday or Friday
my usual hair appointment dates. That's when I get my set and style. Or
I get my nails or waxing done. As we pull into the lot of Holly's my
wife says, "I have something that I've decided to do to your hair. Go
in Holly is expecting you I spoke with her this morning."
I wiggle into the salon and of course all of the other women say, "Hi
Josie." Holly is sitting on the couch when I walk in and she says, "We
have a surprise for you sweetie." As Holly leads me to the back chairs
I walk past Amy one of the stylists and she comments, "I love that
outfit honey, VERY CUTE." I say thank you and tell her I like her shoes
and feel very self-conscious as I wiggle by all the different patrons
and other stylists. The salon is packed and it is filled with only
women. Holly asks one of the stylists, "Where did you put that white
lightning that I mixed for Josie?" Now without telling anything, she
seats me, covers me with a pink apron shampoos my hair and then she
starts to brush on this white paste on my hair. I don't even get an
explanation. I know not to say anything because she will tell my wife
that I misbehaved and I will be punished more severely.
After my entire head is covered and it smells very strong, it is
burning my eyes, I am covered in a plastic cap and put under the dryer.
As it cooks every couple of minutes Holly would walk by and check.
Start to giggle and tell me, "Not quite, a few more minutes honey."
Another woman is sitting next to me under the dryer also. Her hair is
covered in a plastic cap and she says to me, "What we have to go
through, I hope my husband appreciates what I do to look good for him.
Does your husband realize what you go through for him too?"
I try and smile and tell her I hope so and realize that this woman
thinks I am another female. And she should, I look at my breasts
pushing through my blouse and look down at my shaved legs encased in
white stockings in heels and realize that I don't look anything like a
male at all. And so in my sqeaky voice I talk to her all about men,
fashions, and various other girl talk. I really have no choice.
Finally Holly takes me out from under the dryer and washes the paste
out of my hair. Then she puts another liquid in and rubs it throughout.
"This is a toner and it stays in for about 5 minutes. Then you are
ready for the curl and set." When that is finished she lead

(User #557065 Info) i would argue that deadlines are easier to meet for console projects as (insert standardized hardware/os argument here). although as they are slated to release for all the nextgen consoles, that argument may be blown out of the water.
my main issue is that i don't forsee many LAN parties featuring SC:G. while i'll piece together computers and build a LAN in my home office to play multiplayer PC games, i don't see myself going out and buying four (insert console here) and four TVs (or VGA adapters).
pity.
although if they were going to port it to PC, the Xbox code might be a good place to start. heh.

Nope, you sure weren't. But you were probably among the many (myself included) with ridiculously high expectations. Granted, I wasn't DEEPLY disappointed, but I got bored with WC3 pretty quickly.

They'd be releasing in the third year of that lifespan, and by then I'm sure developers will be stretching the limits of the system (ala DKC 1,2,3 on the SNES and Perfect Dark on N64... sorry, I'm a Nintendo fanboy). If they DO take that much time, let's hope they make adjustments along the way to keep up with the competition. Just my 2 anonymous cents.

1. What is trolling?
Trolling is the art of pissing of people with too much free time, namely moderators. It's a highly amusing sport. A sucessful troll can cause tons of havoc.
2. Sound good. How do I troll?
The best trolls are somewhat subtle. For instance, posting "linux sucks!" and you will be immediently modded down. A smart troll might post
"Linux on the desktop is simply not an option right now. It's simply too hard to use. Forget what the typical microsoft hating linux zeolot says - the truth is linux is not a viable alternitive".
The above post is longer, and not a blatent troll. While it will piss off the typical long haired hippie it might even be modded up as insightful!
3. Hmm. Can you give me any tips on my first troll?
Certainly. Don't post typical troll phrases such as "Imagine a beowulf cluster of these!" or include a link to goats.cx. These are far too obvious, and will be modded down without comment. Likewise, whilst gettng first post is fun, don't say fp! I suggest using a little imagination, such as setting up a free redirector (like cjb.net) to point to goats.cx. Try and make the site relevant too the story, such as "Joe MIT hacker making his XOR gate out of water is pretty cool, but it's been done before here . Most moderators are lazy and won't click the link. Chances are you will be modded up as insightful.
4. Any other dirty tricks?
Sure, there's plenty. Whenever anyone includes a link, follow up and say 'Don't click here! it's a goats.cx link!' this will earn you karma whilst getting the sucker modded down. Another one: When the site featured in the story gets slashdotted, claim you have a mirror. Give the IP address of goats.cx as the mirror.
5. What should I avoid doing?
Please *don't* post stuff incolving disturbing sexial experiences of comments. We don't want to hear about what you did with a dog last week, nor why michael (the editor) does with 5 pounds of ice and a shovel a day. Not only is it sick but you give all trolls a bad name. Also, speaking in l337 makes you look like a teenage acne scarred moron. Finally, think carefully before you troll. You are trying to cause havoc. This will not happen if you are modded down within 30 seconds of posting. be subtle.
Have fun, trolling is an honorable sport.

I just saw the news on my pager -- actor Sir Richard Harris, famous to a new generation of fans for playing Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was found dead in his home in England. There were no further details.
Even if you never saw his films, there's no denying his contribution to popular cultural. Truly a British icon.

All I got was a circular fog thing with a voice, bad music and let me restate REALLY LAME GRAPHICS.
I was expecting something some thing that would make me want to play this game.
The seven minuite trailer that I saw last night for Doom III really made me want to buy it (not wait for christmas).
This thing makes me think that a release of Geriatric PAC MAN would be a better choice.
Blizzard should really consider a new advertising agency.
I think that there is one that used to work for Microsoft.
They could use stock photos and do a I switched from freecell and Installed my own game type of ad.
They could even try to get some mileage with a diatribe from a stoned teenager

It's been a while (since the doom3 trailers actually) since I've had a 'wow... this shit is awesome...' reaction, and SC-G doesn't trigger that for me.
Then again, I might have played just a bit too much fps games to get wowed anymore. All I see in those trailers is cannon fodder
