Ex-Microsofter Rick Belluzzo Prefers Linux
keird writes "I'm sure you all remember Belluzzo being pushed out of Microsoft earlier this year. ComputerWorld has a short, but interesting interview with him where he talks about why his new employer, Quantum uses Linux in their appliances." From reading the interview, Belluzzo seems to be pretty amicable to whatever will get the job done, and in this case, it's Linux.
This is so easy, nowadays!
This is pathetic. Linux is better positioned than any other OS right now to derail the Windows desktop juggernaut, restore genuine choice to the average computer user, and restrain MS's monopolistic actions. But nothing has or will happen in that market segment, because it requires too much change and too much non-sexy work from the OSS coders.
Five or ten years from now, when Linux is still a strong server and embedded OS, but nothing more than a curiosity on the desktop, the OSS crowd will have no one to blame but themselves. It's an immense opportunity, and it's slipping away as we watch.
