QuickTime 6.1 Released
ufo8mycow writes "QuickTime 6.1 is available for Mac users via Software Update. Enhancements include the following: MPEG-4 video provides more accurate rate control and improved visual quality; AAC includes new encoder controls and new bit rate options; DV includes significant encode and decode performance improvements; QuickTime Pro users will enjoy enhancements in full screen playback, including newly enabled keyboard shortcuts for movie control, faster entry and exit, and improved playback performance."
I'd lay pretty good odds that this includes the changes to quicktime to let it work with those new MPEG4 enabled cell phones.
The topic (tip) of updating from the command line for OS X software updates in not new here, and it's been well received in the past as being helpful.
:)
OK?
I update from the command line when I am remote (like now, when I'm in the office). When I'm at the box, I use the built in panel...
Just trying to be helpful...if it doesn't float your boat, then you, like all, are free to ignore.
Silly Windows user... QuickTime 6.1 is for Macs!
As far as I can tell, the standalone installers (at least the Jaguar one) are still 6.0.2
I guess I have to get out from behind this firewall before I can upgrade...
This update has broken TruPlaya, a Video Player which uses Quicktime but allows you to play movies fullscreen even if you don't buy/have QuicktimePRO.
:/
I can still play the movies in TruPlaya, but i can't Pause/Stop/Reverse, etc. them any more
I noticed this too. This seems to be a change after upgrading to 10.2.3.
It seems to just drop down to singled user and bounce back up-- apparently a full reboot isn't necessary.
Yeah, and you guys panned the ipod too: http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/10/23
I noticed the update yesterday and installed it. The new fullscreen mode changes are sweet. It switches to and from fullscreen mode much faster now and the Command-1,2,3 keys change the size of the video while you're in fullscreen.. very nice.
Ouch! The truth hurts!
