Opera Releases "Bork" Edition

David Arnesen writes "Two weeks ago it was revealed that Microsoft's MSN portal targeted Opera users, by purposely providing them with a broken page. As a reply to MSN's treatment of its users, Opera Software today released a very special Bork edition of its Opera 7 for Windows browser. The Bork edition behaves differently on one Web site: MSN. Users accessing the MSN site will see the page transformed into the language of the famous Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show: Bork, Bork, Bork! Here you can find the press release and download link!"

So basically they got upset that MSN intentionally messed up their page for opera browsers by messing it up even more. That's a great idea.

Shouldn't that be controlled by a preferences setting, for the benefit of pervos who do want to look?

Nah, make the pervs use IE. It's no more than they deserve ;)

    1) Microsoft can code it's website however the heck it wants. It's not going out and forcing you to take that information.

    2) IE's defalt page is MSN. SO WHAT!? It's not as if they lock you into that choice, nor is there any internet code of conduct that says you must default your browser to a nuetral site. I'm sorry, that's nine-assed.

    3) The definition of monopoly is no viable competition. Are you saying neither Opera or Netscape are viable competition? IE is NOT a monopoly.

    4) MSN is benifiting from IE because the two products are OWNED BY THE SAME COMPANY. Are you saying it's illegal for any company to use such an association to it's advantage?! "OH! Netscape shouldn't link it's OWN BROWSER to it's webpage! THAT'S MONOPOLISTIC PRACTICE!!!"

I agree to some extent that MS has had it's share of shady business practices, but the associations your describing are just plain weak.
