I can clearly remember who said that - it was a girl I met who devoted hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to help people, and as she was saying it she was showing me three e-mails she had gotten so far that day abusing her with lots of french.
Really, for anyone who abuses people for not doing a good enough job at doing something for not a cent, just get a life.
Well now let's see. It's free for personal, educational or non-profit use. And the source code is available, you just have to pay for it. Hey, I got a wife, family and bills to pay - get over it buddy. And as for being a "shit" product - why not try it and see if it works ? Then compare it to SmartHeap (www.microquill.com) who charge tens of thousands of dollars for an inferior product.
Sure, I'd love to be working on open source projects during the day and spending my evenings with my family. I've just not figured out how to do that and make a living out of it.

My girlfriend's ability to find pr0n on our shared Windows box is quickly outstripping my ability to hide the pr0n. All I can say is - damn, Windows has an amazing ability to keep track of ones' history.
In any case, I think my only option now is to keep all my pr0n entirely on my FreeBSD server, which I can connect to GUIly through VNC. So what I need is the following:
1) Some sort of automated newsgroup binary downloader. Right now I'm using Grabit, and I've had good luck with it and would like something similar. Needs to support yenc.
2) A good image browser. Something that'll let me flip through the pictures with minimal effort (only one hand on the keyboard, if you get my drift), and delete easily from the browser when I hit the occasional fat fugly ho image series.

I agree that SmartHeap is a total piece of shit. It does nothing but cause problems. I don't know if it was SmartHeap specifically or the way someone was using it, but it would allow a DLL to be unloaded from memory in a very strange way. Basically, if you had an object that was global to the DLL and was constructed when the DLL was loaded into memory, the destructor would only run after the whole DLL memory space was invalidated. This was a problem since it was trying to run code in a page that didn't belong to the process. I cursed SmartHeap for many hours on end.....
What kills me is how much money they (Microquill/SmartHeap) try and charge. I guess they're getting away with it because they're still in business.
If you want an open source solution by the way, you should look at Hoard. It's a bit crap under Windows (actually it's diabolical) but I think it works pretty well under *nix. Not as convenient to use as WinHeap because you have to modify/relink all your projects, but hey, it works :-)
