GTA: Vice City Sells 8.5 Million Copies in 3 Months
Gus writes "Take Two Interactive Software reports that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has sold more than 8.5 million copies in the first three months since its late-October launch. The good news is Rockstar Games has 11 titles in the works. The bad news is the chances of the next GTA making it out this year are pretty slim." Also, there's still a couple people waiting on Duke Nukem Forever, and their patience is wearing thin.

I just heard some sad news on public radio - star of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and community advocate Fred Rogers was found dead in his Pittsburgh home this morning . There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him -- even if you didn't enjoy his television show, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
Why bother.

yea, fun sucks... Dipshit.
I heard on CNN's Daybreak this morning (yeah that's early, and im in PST too) that Mr Rogers died of stomach cancer early this morning. Apparently he had been battling it for the past 2 months or so.
At least he went in his sleep.
Mr Rogers, you'll always be my neighbor!

Grand Theft Auto & Mr. Rogers in the same thread. How weird is that? One advocating "show love & kindness to your neighbor" ...the other recommends a nice 12 ga. shotgun...
Yes, we all know many on-line and off-line stores have been setting release dates for Duke Nukem Forever, but from corporate HQ of one of the most (if not the biggest) well known game-related sellers for console & PC have a release date set for June 2003. Interestingly enough, any posts made on the 3drealms forums which mentioned this release date WERE NOT deleted, like the others have been, but MOVED to other forum areas unrelated to Duke Nukem Forever. This is very interesting to note if you've participated on 3drealms' forums for as many years as I have.
I'm betting on June 2003. I'm sure the game is done or nearly done, and they're working on a massive ad campaign to promote it. If it's not done this year, however, I never want to hear about it again. Ever.
This year is the deciding factor, IMO whether Duke Nukem Forever lives to see its well deserved release, or reveals itself as a project of never-ending engine switches and excuses.

since when was Slashdot a gaming site? It's really annoying to see those time wasting programs making it onto this site. Slashdot use to be great for reading at work, but now I'd probobly get fired for reading it at work with so much personal and game content on the site now. Not to mention the fact that not many companies will take a site seriously that reports so much on games. There's practically been atleast one post a day about some game.
I don't need games that don't run natively on Linux. I'll buy other games and I'll give love to small publishing houses. http://apex-designs.net
