Microsoft Opens Source to China

angst7 writes "ZDNet is reporting that Microsoft has signed an agreement which would allow the Chinese government access to Windows source code. This is part of an effort to curb the shift toward Linux in China due to that country's concerns regarding the security of closed source software." Reader NZheretic points out that less than a year ago, Jim Allchin swore under oath that disclosing the Windows operating system source code could damage national security.

I just heard some sad news on CNN - star of Star Trek: The Next Generation and open-source advocate Wil Wheaton was found dead in his California home this morning . There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him -- even if you didn't enjoy his television show, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.

Hm, so "CleverNickname" is dead eh? I wonder if that fatass wife of his killed him. Or maybe it was one of those crazy Trekkies who hated Wesley with every fiber of their being, dressed in full Klingon gear and armed with a sword.

In any event, yes it is a sad loss for the eniter /. community. :(

There's a mirror of the report here. Sad really, they're talking about auto-erotic asphyxiation. It took hours to get his head pulled out of there.

  4. Falcons Release Leagues "Most Exciting Quarterback by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Offtopic

ATLANTA - Atlanta Falcons' Executive Vice President / Head Coach Dan Reeves shocked NFL fans around the country by announcing that they have released starting quarterback Michael Vick. When asked why he released the league's "most exciting quarterback," Reeves refused to comment, but offensive coordinator Pete Mangurian was very vocal about the reasons.

"Who do you think ya alls are talking to? This here is Georgia! There ain't no room for no god damn niggers in the QB position! The south will rule again! Yeehaw!"

While Vick was not available, his agent, Pete Gameche offered these comments. "Mangurian was correct. Niggers should not be quarterbacks in Georgia. Mike has decided to go back to his masta's plantation in Georgia and pick cotton for the rest of his life."

Last season, Vick threw 231 of 421 for a total of 2936 yards, throwing 16 touchdown passes and 8 interceptions.
