if we focused on everything that was bad in the world, we'd all be sad and pissed off all the time (much like you seem to be atm)...you can still enjoy life with negative things going on around you. If you're like me(and i'd guess most of us), you've been blasted by the media with details of this war for the past 72 hours straight....take a break for a while and watch a good cartoon. -WB
In the first Matrix movie, Neo is supposed to be the hero. He is supposed to deliver humanity from a scourge of machines that, with AI, decided we were expendable.
But the first Animatrix makes we humans, pretty much en masse, into horrible villains. It's the same tired old Humanity Is Cruel And Stupid line. Yawn. What's worse is that it tries to make you root for the machines!
So which is it, Wachowskis? Machines are evil, or all of humanity?
I don't care for yet more everything-is-grey-there-is-no-morality bullshit, either. Oh well, I guess I'll wait and see.
No so much that they are an interesting way to examine the universe the movies are set in, though that is fun. The thing I like best about the whole thing is that it's a great testbed showing that you can release video for free and still make bundles of money selling people the DVD version!!
Eventually, all of these shorts will be on DVD, but before then almost all will be on the web (not sure if "last Flight of the Osiris" is supposed to go up or not?). But even though we can all get hi-res versions for free, I'm sure a lot of people will still buy the DVD (I know I will).
This is just the sort of thing that helps to show how free versions of movies online can actually help, not hinder, sales.

Read VALIS by Philip K Dick. The similarities are amazing. They are both a telling of the same basic story, but VALIS is much more interesting.
Maybe we DID take the blue pill. You wouldn't remember anyway.
Jokes about slashdotting the matrix trailers are getting reeeealy old, because it doesn't happen. Every time a new animatrix story is posted someone jokes about slashdotting it, but the trailers are always available at speeds of above 500KB/sec even right after the story is posted, when it is still the first story on Slashdot's front page. Believe it or not, there are sites out there with more bandwidth than Slashdot, and AOL-Time-Warner sites are a prime example.
