odd, b/c you can definitely tell that it's working if you boost them pretty high, especially the hearing settings...are you sure that zone transitions cause the problem too? i rarely save/reload...if i die, i generally restart the mission, so maybe that's why i wouldn't notice it that much...either that or it's just a really good placebo:)
if you have a modded xbox, you can copy the game to hdd, and just edit the DEFAULT.ini file so that the AI settings for normal mode are equal to whatever difficulty you want (it is also fun to boost the numbers a little more than the highest difficulty settings)...this is the same workaround that was possible on the pc
i know this isn't a possibility for most people though since it requires a modchip, hopefully they will create an updated gamedisc and let us send our old ones in (or at the very least, fix the game for all those in EU and UK so they don't have to deal with the problem.
I'm pretty much a newb to image manipulation software, and I've used both photoshop and gimp...both have a significant learning curve for doing more advanced techniques, and both pretty easy if you are just trying to do standard things like cropping, rotation, color correction, &c.
I don't see either as being harder or more complicated...it's just like any new program, you have to learn the interface.
How about next year the editors try real hard to get everyone, and then on april 2nd post a slashback with all of the hoaxes they found on april 1st instead of bombarding us with crap all day?
well, it was worth suggesting:p
if we focused on everything that was bad in the world, we'd all be sad and pissed off all the time (much like you seem to be atm)...you can still enjoy life with negative things going on around you. If you're like me(and i'd guess most of us), you've been blasted by the media with details of this war for the past 72 hours straight....take a break for a while and watch a good cartoon.

I'm pretty sure slashdotting a bunch of monks is asking for plague, famine, or at least a couple of lightning bolts.

Agreed. The part that really got me was that Skynet was processing at "60 teraflops per second" I nearly spit out my drink :p
