The World's Largest Really Small Thing

nut writes "The Beeb has a story on the discovery of the world's largest virus. It is nearly the size of a bacterium and lives in amoebae commonly found in your air-conditioning system. It has been linked to pneumonia in people, but isn't known to cause disease itself. More reports here(1), here(2) and here(3)."

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! Not only is this a dupe, but the dupe appears on the front page, it's not even archived yet!!!! Don't the so-called 'editors' read the site??? What's worst is that these guys get paid for what they do! I ran an RPG newssite that posted more news than slashdot on any given day. Did we ever have any dupes? Nope. Why? Cause we read our own damn site!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! Dupes is probably the #1 complaint on slashdot, and no one seems to be doing a damn thing about it.

The problem with that logic is as follows:
/. editors post duplicates, therefore they don't actually read /.
Since they don't read /., why would they see an article on duplicate detection algorithms?

As well, since it is commonly known that noone actualy reads the articles, why should the /. editors?

Between these two points, a discussion on dupe detection would be trite.
