Unreal II Demo Released

G9o writes "The demo for Unreal II: The Awakening has been released. The 153MB file is available for download at Fileplanet or FileShack. Originally Epic said they weren't going to release a demo for it, but perhaps the mediocre reception changed their mind?" In related news, French games site FactorNews are hosting a press document that claims "Unreal II" for Xbox, "Unreal Assault" for PS2 and "Unreal Tournament 2004" for PC will all be shown by Infogrames at E3, albeit possibly behind closed doors.

How is this offtopic? Isn't it obvious he wants a bittorrent link for the demo, which would be the logical way to spread the load off the main distribution points? If this is offtopic, surely any other posts about downloading it from 3dgamers or such must be equally so.

Moderator, you do know what bittorent is, right?

I had to log out in order to post AC. Also, when you post AC, you get two annoying messages:

My Post anonymously box has dissappeared. I checked the faq, and all I found was this:

Most of the trolls and useless stuff comes from "Anonymous Coward" posters. Have you thought about eliminating anonymous posting?
We've thought about it. We think the ability to post anonymously is important. Sometimes people have important information they want to post, but are afraid to do it if they can be linked to it. Anonymous Coward posting will continue to exist for the foreseeable future.

well, it seems that the option has been removed, so your other options are 1) don't post anon, 2) use a second browser to post anon, or 3) log-out before typing something nasty.
course it doesnt matter to me, when i have something nasty to say, I let people know just who it's coming from.

Ironically, I've noticed that the overwhelming majority of folks I know of that got axed during this downturn were of the Win* variety. Come to think of it, I can only think of 1 *nix guy that got whacked and that's because his company folded altogether. I can't speak for tech as a whole but on the admin side of things, you're a hell of a lot more likely to *keep* your job with a *nix background than a Win* background.
