SCO DOS'ed

Thomas Cort writes "BusinessWeek has an article about a DDoS attack against SCO. "At 10:45 a.m., the Unix and Linux seller was hit by a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) that hampered its Internet operations, said SCO spokesman Blake Stowell ... the Utah-based company has incurred the wrath of many Linux enthusiasts infuriated with its lawsuit against IBM ... SCO's Internet service provider, ViaWest, told SCO that about 100 high-speed T1 data-transmission lines of network capacity--about 90 percent of its total bandwidth--was being consumed in the attack.""

Was the /. DoS brought about by too many SCO stories? Or just Pel code on Lunix that is, by its nature, incomprehensible and unmaintaainable? You decide!

    Mission accomplished!

If the mission is to show how unprofessional and downright childish some members of the community can be, you have succeeded.

What's next, DDoS'ing Microsoft? Or maybe any Windows desktop user? Perhaps anyone who opposes OSS in any form should be the target. What if Microsoft decided to do a covert DDoS against Red Hat's site? I'm sure you would all be up in arms.

Sure, SCO is likely to be wrong, we all know that. Sure, they may be "stupid" or just blowing smoke out their ass, but nothing has been proven yet. Innocent until proven guilty. Perhaps this fraction of the Linux should practice what they preach (as many Slashdotters do).

I'm sure these tactics will help Linux gain mainstream acceptance both in the desktop and server markets. Keep it up!
