Presumably you have insurance? If so, this little stunt could cost you your claim...
Insurance policies have a clause in it re: subrogation. E.g. If Dell is really at fault--the insurance company will pay you directly, and then go after Dell for the money..
BUT your policy also has a clause in it saying that you must not do anything to obstruct the insurance company's ability to subrogate. This little slashdot stunt and posting your story online may just do that.. You may have fscked yourself twice over.
Try it on the Internet Chess Club... Yahoo Chess is a joke by (any) comparison. If you can get over the privacy issues (their client effectively spies on your computer by reporting which tasks you have running, and how often you switch tasks during a game; but I believe the majority of their cheat detection is done using server-side algorithms, and is reviewed by hu-mans on a case-by-case basis) it is a fantastic place to play chess online.
The only thing your "test" is testing is the FPU on the processor. The code for factorial is small, so that and all the intermediaries are able to be stored in cache, regardless of the processor. And how exactly are you timing it? Do you sit there and say "1-one thousand, 2-one thousand,..." ?
Right, but when you hear on the news, etc., that average life expetency is "76.4" years or whatever, it's measured from year 0. You have to dig deeper to find the true number for year 30 or 50, etc.
It's probably heavily subsidized (or will be) by chartiy/industry. One of the terms is likely no local distribution. If you want the right to buy one, start your own company !?
Please, teach me to play this game. I spend hours upon hours hitting End Turn, hoping that one day I will be able to build space ship. BUT NOOoo 2050 always comes too soon. PLEASE TEACH ME!
You sir, are SEVERELY wrong. While I applaud the thought process, you left off one key bit... Who exactly is employing this analyst? Who exactly would even benefit from the knoweldge this analyst gains? I have three words for you:
My Crow Soft.
Simple fact is that anyone else who would/could benefit from this news:
1) Is either Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo. In either case, the responsible party has a vested interested in turning out biased news.
2) Is a small-time 'stakeholder' and would not get a big enough return for the cost of doing this so-called analysis.
The more likely scenario is an asshat pulling numbers out of thin air or an astroturf attempt by Microsoft. I don't--this is slashdot and I don't read the articles.
I don't know where you went to school, but I do know that it sucked. I write reasonably well and my writing has never been graded on length. I turned in a term paper that was nearly 700 words short of target and still received three As (one from the professor, two from my peers.)
If you are interested in improving, you should really take another class "just to learn" and ignore the grades.
The game is by no means random. The game's moves cannot be modeled accurately by any "distribution", etc. (See ICC user morph2). Since the game is not random, there can be no probability assigned to it (meaningful, anyway; e.g., saying there is a 5% chance of the winning move Qxf7# is bogus). Since there is no probability, there is no risk.
And, no, chess has not been PROVEN a draw. But please find me any expert who thinks chess is a forced win for white... If there were a forced win, several hundred years of chess (in current form) would have discovered it. Chess programs would have stumbled on it. There are opening lines in chess that have been analyze 20, 30, 40 moves deep. Yet, every analysis shows black always has some recorse, or the ability to avoid the line in the first place.
If you disagree... find me any Master level player or higher that corroberates your view.
Find your own damn Master. I already said that most people think the game is a draw--why do you want me to restate it? I am simply saying that basing your logic off of "chess => draw" is premature.
And you also do not understand chess. Chess is a drawn game by default. A "perfect" player could not beat you unless you made a mistake. There are ways to play the game that focus on minimizing risk as opposed to all out win.
It is you who do not understand chess!! No one knows if Chess is a drawn game "by default"--many think that might be the case, but the hugeness of the game tree prevents anyone from knowing for sure.
One could also you don't understand "risk", but that's another comment.
The next day, everyone who saw it is blind. And suddenly--walking, intelligent, deadly plants.

Insurance industries in the US have mounds of credible data showing that there is indeed a correlation between credit scores and your expected loss.
My momma says aligators or ornary 'cause they've got all them teeth and no toothbrush.

Yes they did. Your rate is deteremined in part by your credit score and criminal record.
Looks like you were fortunate and skipped the grammar brainwashing. Thank God!
Oh, and calc.exe says 2.8242294079603478742934215780245e+456573 in 62 seconds. BOOM.

Junior High? NASTY.
Yep, I saw that episode of Six Feet Under too.
You may have kept your self-respect, but it seems you lost your sense of coherency. What in the fuck did you just say?

Life expentancy is your expected life at age 0. (You can also do it from any age with an actuarial table, but the 0-year figure is most quoted).
... you may need to seek counseling. It will help you get over your angry you have for your father.
Mail.app sucks. Or maybe it's just the IMAP support. I don't have time to think about such things.

They didn't have Fords in 1848 Mr. Dumass.

Amazon.co.uk has it :-) You just have to make sure your DVD player can handle the region nonsense
