The voice of "The Almighty" in 'Clip 1' has to be that of Keith David, who also did Okkoto in Princess Mononoke. Maybe I'm wrong (which is probably the case), but it sure does sound like him.

Beyond that little insight, judging by the available clips, this movie is looking damn good (albeit remaniscant of old cut scenes from Play Station 1 games like "Legacy of Kain" - just cleaner). While it's premise doesn't appear to be completely original, it is certainly going to be a great piece of fantasy in of itself. It's style of art is also a rather refreshing departure from the main stream stock of CG films, which tend to be rather "cartoony" (not that this is a bad thing, but it is nice to see something new).

It certainly looks cool. The French outshine themselves again. I just hope the fact that it's French doesn't put people off.

Ummm... Not to pick nits, but did France as a nation come together and make this film? No. A company, which happens to be located in France made it.

When X-men 2 came out, did people say: "Wow, those Americans have done it again!" Probably not. The people of France did not make the movie. Some people who live there did... It sounds kind of condescending (like there are only 3 people in France, all of whom worked on this movie) to put it otherwise. (I'm an American, and frankly I'd be offended if people assumed all Americans believe in/produce most of the shit that comes out of Hollywood)

Sorry, a nit pick from a francophile, it's:
    Bienvenue à l'Effet de Slashdot.
à must have the grave accent to denote "to" instead of a conjugated form of "to have" (avoir) for singular third person (il, elle, on). Additionally, English added Cs to several French words like "effet," "sujet (also added b in English)," etc. Finally, one must have de to indicate ownership (it is the effect of Slashdot).

I looked at the trailer, and, like a few other people have mentioned here, it's okay but not great. The animation lags behind Pixar and the other big boys, and the plot is pretty generic (and bears an unfortunate similarity to A Bug's Life). But what gets me is that, for what seems to be the umpteenth time, a movie (or t.v. show or book or video or whatever) is anonymously submitted to /., almost certainly by someone involved in the production. If you think about it, considering the zillions of page views daily and the profile of the site (heck, google news uses /. as a source), /. has to be an easy source of free marketing for anyone selling any kind of SF. "News for Nerds, Stuff that Matters" indeed.

Lightwave having the best renderer of all of the off-the-shelf packages? Definitely not. Softimage would have to take the crown their with Mental Ray as its standard renderer (hypervoxels be damned).

Maya Complete is only about 1,500 GBP, and has real NURBS support, infinitely better animation abilities and a far more powerful shading interface. Its GUI is almost as drawn out and tedious as Lightwave's though.

    Europe!Europe!Europe!
That is all we have heard from the American side for the last 6 months.

The matter of the fact is, that the problem isn't here nor it's source.
The US tends to solve problems by eliminating the visibible superficial symptoms of problem.
Nuke em, bomb em, shoot em, eliminate em.
It's been like that for decades.

The US screams about nuclear weapons to all nations of the world.
But in fact, the US is to date the only country in the world that has killed human beings on such a large scale with nuclear weapons. Now isn't that ironic?

Please. America's economy is still larger than a combined European economy

That is no longer the case. It might have been in the past, but it's not anymore.

it will continue to enjoy 10% unemployment in Germany and other so-called economic engines.

It's 4%. That's in fact lower than the US.

I'm not trying to be childish here, just summing up the facts.

In fact the Dollar is so weak now that the entire Oil Indstry(Russia+Arabic states) are considering to switch to the Euro instead of the Dollar.
Even Japan is buying Euro's instead of Dollars like they always did to strengthen the economy. Things have changed.

These are facts instead of insults that you throw at Europe.
    Cowards?
If Europeans would be such "cowards", how come 40 million of us died to stop the nazi's? Like i said, the US just came in after all the dirty work was done.
And talking about cowerdness, it was the US who left the Iraqi's after the first Gulf War to suffer under Saddam, so don't talk to about cowerdness as if you were above it.
