Super Mario's Wacky Worlds?

Thanks to InsertCredit for pointing out a new article on The Black Moon Project regarding the lost Philips CD-I game, Super Mario's Wacky Worlds. This appears to have been in development by Novalogic (better known for the Comanche helicopter sims at the time) in 1992 and 1993. The article has info and screenshots from the partially finished prototype, which was intended to be an adaptation of Super Mario World for the CD-I with new levels and gameplay. What a genuinely odd find.

    Well, it sucks."

I know this is off-topic, but I'd like to throw my two cents in as an artist. The main problem with the color scheme is that the gradient goes from overl-bright purple to white with white text on top of it. This can be corrected by changing the gradient to go from black to a mid-range purple. It'd look much more tasteful.

I took about 5 minutes and roughly mocked up a screengrab of a more tasteful implementation of the Games Color Scheme. Check it out here.

Okay, so I'm off-topic and bitching about something that's been griped about a million times. At least give me credit for taking a little time to provide something to grab color codes off of. :)

I actually modded up your post, for at least presenting a solution to the possible problem in a _constructive_ manner. So rest assured that we're not just sitting here in a big-ass ivory tower ignoring all potential problems. :)

You're welcome to mail games@slashdot.org with either 'I still like the color scheme' or 'This is, constructively, what I don't like about it' and if we can all reach a consensus, then *ding*, we have a winner.
