Super Mario's Wacky Worlds?
Thanks to InsertCredit for pointing out a new article on The Black Moon Project regarding the lost Philips CD-I game, Super Mario's Wacky Worlds. This appears to have been in development by Novalogic (better known for the Comanche helicopter sims at the time) in 1992 and 1993. The article has info and screenshots from the partially finished prototype, which was intended to be an adaptation of Super Mario World for the CD-I with new levels and gameplay. What a genuinely odd find.
no need to all post your comments at once. there's plenty of bandwidth for everybody.
hello?
old-school vaporware. Must be a slow day.
I wouldda played it. I like the Mario games a lot. Games have become really violent (GTA, Max Payne, etc) in recent years. I like games where the majority of the effort into producing the game went into making a fun-to-play game, rather than producing a cool-looking game. The early mario games are really easy, but I like them anyway. And I really like seing them ported to the GBA... giving games like Yoshi's Island a second chance. I guess the next Super Mario Advance could be something new... if so, maybe they'll finish this game. What I want most is another Wario game... but I'm still working on Yoshi's Island.

Those screenshots of egypt (desert stereotype there) and the pirate ship look REALLY REALLY familiar? can anyone think of some platform games with similar backdrops? (VERY similar ones)
Or am I making up memories now
From the OMFG-it-looks-like-shit dept.
Well, it sucks.

Hey, what ever happened to Super Gates' Wacky Windows? ....No, wait, I'm running it now....
I'm still waiting for a full on CDI emulator so I can play Link: Faces of Evil..
I wonder if it's going to use their patented Voxel technology.
This article does little good without an ISO image to download so we can play it.
