Unfortunately, the article doesn't explain why Paramount turned down the Canada offer. That would seem to make the most sense, as the Trek fan fund itself wouldn't have been able to actually fund a season, while an actual production company would.
Why hasn't this clause been added to the official GPL itself? Who would want to require anyone who uses their fonts to make their program GPL'ed? That would seem very odd.
And what about a simple pop-up blocker, especially now that Microsoft includes one with IE? Does this violate a "social contract?" How is blocking any other type of ads different than blocking pop-up ads?

One major problem with open-source is the lack of artists willing to work under such a license. For an example ot what results, see the "new" FreeCIV.
I wonder who came up with that selection. It really leaves out a lot of classics that are known for their music (think Zelda, FF3, FF7, etc.).
