Hopefully some of you can make it, BUT, the House Budget Subcommittee hearing that has been moved up to TOMORROW(May 20th) at 10am. This is the same day as the Senate Judiciary hearing and a day earlier than the originally scheduled time. Tennessee's government has a history for playing tricks like this one. Several times they've had unannounced meetings in order to approve a state income tax; activists have been quite vigilant in finding when it happens and getting the word out. Local talk show hosts have been blamed for "inciting the public" into speaking out against the state tax, but it IS the public who must approve of such taxes.

They aren't the only ones. Massachusetts has done something similar int the past to pass a tax hike - basically sequester the entire state legislature for 20 hours. Mass has a procudural rule that a measure cannot be presented and passed in the same day (to give time for the electorate to have their views heard I assume), so they just kept everyone out of contact with the people until 12:01, declared it a new day, and put the tax hike to a vote. Nice.

Tis true that a very vigilant population stayed on top of the squirly legislature in Tennessee thanks in part to the knowledge gleaned from Mass. debacle. Knowing that makes vigilence against the Super DMCA all the more critical.

Unfortunatly the .sig space is too small for the whole process.

Start building crappy wonder -> discover internets (Internet wonder) -> obsolete hollywood wonder (no more +1 happiness) -> Turn down production for more entertainers -> convert crapy wonder project to Internet wonder project -> build "the Internet" (+2 science) -> raise production again -> convert some scientists in big cities into entertainers to appease angry cities.

Personally I am preparing to become one of the entertainers from one of the scientists. :) I look at the state of state music and the Internet and think, "it's the code stupid."
