RIAA vs The Economy

thumbtack writes "Boycott-RIAA.com is running an analysis of the RIAA sales vs a number of other large corporations. It was compiled by Justin Moore at Duke University. It is really quite interesting, showing the the RIAA sales are pretty much consistent with the rest of the economy. From the analysis: I would assert, however that it does make the case in cold, hard numbers that the RIAA's claim of digital piracy ravaging their sales must be taken with a rather large grain of salt. The CEOs of Eastman-Kodak are in a nearly identical economic situation as the RIAA, yet do not have the luxury of blaming digital piracy."

Those socialist euro-peons are so fucking lazy it's no wonder they need the government to be their mommy and daddy. In Norway they call socialism "brotherhood". HAHA! weakass bitches. France is rapidly turning into a 3rd world country with their communism/marxist policies and their accomadations to the mudslimes. Germany has 10% unemployment and who knows when they will pull their heads out their asses and realize socialism doesn't work.

Oh well, I just laugh at the eurobitches still trying to fight to make socialism work. Oh, and don't forget about the canuckleheads with their socialized medicine. Better hope you don't need a heart transplant because you'll be waiting about 2 years. Stupid fucks.

Well, Kodak screwed the pooch with the new DCS-14n. They just posted a super-indepth review of it over at Digital Photo Review and it performed pretty miserably compared to the Canon 1Ds. Personally, I'm quite happy with my Canon 10D :)

Ever see those bill boards everywhere? Car insurance fraud will get you jail time!

Of course, you NEED to buy car insurance. Over time, car insurance costs more than your car. If you have an accident, car insurance doesn't pay.... Instead they jack up your rates and make you pay them more. I've seen them even do worse atrocities(especially with HMOs)

Yet you see billboards,"Don't commit insurance fraud!"

Why is that? Its because they got too much money, and they can spend it on billboards and outrageous things.

      Ok, the parent is offtopic.

But car insurance companies must be run by the mob, because its a friggen racket!

I was in an accident about 6 months ago that wasn't my fault - a guy backed up into me when he thought a semi making a turn was going to clip him.

At any rate, I call my insurance company, figuring, I'm paying them all this cash, its their job to take care of it. WRONG. Call the other guys insurance company yourself, they say.

What?!? I'm paying approximately $100 a month, I've never been in an accident that's my fault, and I have never had a moving violation of any kind. I've never had so much as a parking ticket! Yet when it comes to the insurance company actually DOING anything, they tell me no, they don't do that.

I'm paying them $3 a day to do nothing. I give them money, they print off a bill and mail it to me. I'm paying them to mail me bills. What a great job that must be.

Here is the kicker. Since I still owe money to the bank for my car, they require I carry full insurance. My car isn't worth much. For the cost of the insurance I've paid, it won't be long before I could actually afford to completely replace my car.

Seems to me that many of us who drive inexpensive cars are being made to cover the costs of those who drive $60,000 SUVs. (Plus plenty extra so they can make a big profit) After all, I can guaruntee that even as high as the insurance rates are for those vehicles, there is no way that the owners of them are paying the replacement cost of the vehicle in 4 years.

Here's my thing. If the government is going to require you to have car insurance, then insurance companies should be required not to turn a profit on car insurance. Think about that. If you own a car, the government requires you to pay somebody for a service that they make a profit on.
