Devil May Cry Becomes Movie
SaXisT4LiF writes "There's a newly posted Gamespot article that mentions Capcom licensing the movie rights to Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry is an awesome game, and this movie looks like it has a lot of potential." The Japanese production company involved, Gaga Communications, were also part of the optioning of the Onimusha movie, as mentioned a couple of weeks back.
Yeah, movies based on video games will always have this problem. Having to inflate a pamphlet-sized plot up to two hours while still adhering to logic of the game's universe and gameplay is a challenge your average hack isn't up to.
One of these days, someone will make a decent adaption. I mean, we're finally getting good Marvel Comics movies, and nobody thought that would happen.
Linux, you magnificent bastard, I read the fucking manual!
It sounds a nice, sensitive, emotional film following the Devil finding his true feelings. Gabe and Tyco did it best: here
I'm still waiting for the Battletech/Mechwarrior movie(s). Talk about easy to adapt, the script is already completely written out in the sourcebooks, games, novels, etc. As you say, the trick would be narrowing/focusing it down to fit into a standard length movie, not a lack of source materials. It's such a truly expansive universe (no pun intended) that they've created for it over the years.
And don't even say the words "Robot Jox" to me.
Palaces, barricades, threats, meet promises
... if they do make a movie for Devil May Cry... wont that be the first time in history when the movie lasts longer than the game itself.
How can you say that civilisation's do not advance... in every war we invent new ways to kill you.
After staring at the Devil May Cry 2 cover, I can't see him as being some random, white action hero type.

Internet Explorer (n): Another bug -- that is, a feature that can't be turned off -- in Windows.
This has to be the umpteenth time I've heard of plans to turn a video game into a movie. It will never happen, so why do they bother making these announcements?
I see my shadow changing, stretching up and over me...
... that anything remotely related to Japan is automatically considered a success? Am I the only one that doesn't care much about nip-stuff (anime or nip-console games like finaru fantashi)?
Anyway, I won't be seeing the movie, Final Fantasy sucked and I won't spend more money on far-fetched "saved by an unborn baby" stupidity.
